Chin Na Training Stones (http://www.wle.com/products/TD21.html). What do you do with it?

There are different Levels (http://www.wle.com//store/t_chinna.html).

I've no idea...but would imagine it has something to do with griping them in your finger tips while doing movements to build grip strength......but if I wrong will someone please me what they are for to!

What you don't realise is that each one weighs 6000lbs. You're supposed to twirl them round your fingers.

They're also good for iron nostril training to prevent nose gouges.

Straight up.

.....Heard of a Kung-Fu called Stone Peach Kung (gripping a stone that is shaped as a sugarcone with a scoop of icecream in it). In Chin Na, core studies or Dim Mak, use is perhaps merely an exercise (required training)~. Locking Fingers, uses different colored stones as one progresses.

.....In geology, one factor in identifying stones is color. Another is hardness. Theoretically, the color is significant to identifying texture/hardness. And as the finger strength increases enough to hold a heavy upsidedown sugarcone by the cone narrower sections, greater hardness ups the difficulty of the fingers to press in in unison and keep it from slipping out of grasp.

White might be like quartz

Green might be like jade

Black might be like onyx.

They are probabally not precious stones but having the names of stones to which you can relate, might help you get the concept-ish.

But I mean they're pretty expensive for weighing on 12lbs. So there must be something special about them, right?

it looks kind of like a forearm to me. Perhaps its used to practice gripping forearms. Like practice gripping it where main meridians, pressure points, vitals points, etc are...

Just some thoughts, I have never used one.

Looks like a good chunk of something semi-precious ...$50 sounds about rightish...
Maybe training has more to do with the properties of stone..like quartz for instance has effect on certain types of energy, inluding qi and different organs or systems...(combine with form??)
...different colours / different vibrations : correlating organ/system????

and what stimulant said......The shape + form would have to force/encourage increased grip AND strength. I dont train chin na, but If i was holding that, I'd be doing moevements which would train muscles relating to pulling and pushing...over and under etc ..and the shape would encourage grip strength right?

FOR A GUESS :p

..ever since the argument on jewellery and effect on chi though I've been a bit toey, even on crystals etc...sounds feasible though.......anyone else?

Hello Ironfist,

From the look of these stones, one can train the pinch grip from the narrow end and the claw grip from the wide end (I repeat, it looks that way). I guess you could get a real workout with greased fingers. Similar training devices can be found in Okinawa. These stones will attract those with a taste for nostalgia.

Ironmind has numerous types of grip training devices that would benefit anyone from the chin na specialist to the peron who simply needs to "get a grip". The advantage with their products are that you can adjust the poundages without ever having to buy an advanced version of "xyz".

... they're called chi gu and I think that's Cantonese for some kind of gourd or root or something. You grip the top, sort of like palming a basketball, and lift. It's formally done in horse stance with your forearms straight. But informally, they are left about the school, and you just sort of pick them up and move them as you go from place to place, perhaps like from the bathroom to the locker room, or something like that. This way it becomes a simple daily practice. It's sort of a variation on stone ball and stone padlock (http://www.atomicathletic.com/) training.

Gene I think you are right. I asked my sifu about them the other day and he said basically the same thing you did.

As for the different type of materials he said that might be in relation to chi and how it is affected by different materials.
