View Full Version : Grappling Dummies - cool or suck?

I can only go to class twice a week and I don't have any friends to work out with at home. Pretty soon I'm moving and I don't think there's any MMA schools there. I suck at remembering ground stuff, so would a grappling dummy help at all? They're freaking expensive.

Has anyone used one? How did you like it?

Here's (http://www.gomass.com/imass/simulaids.html) a crazy one I haven't seen before.

a grown man and a dummy both in wrestling briefs rolling around on the ground......

even an inflatable sheep (quite cheap apparently...) might look more innocent!

You must be cautious with these dummies. Many marriage have been broken because the guy left with the dummy!...Think about the children who's dad is now living somewhere with a dummy!...Pathetic!

just close the curtains (drapes) when you grapple with the dummy.....you dont want the neighbours thinking 'strange' things about you!

For IF... I think it is too late for that already.

rofl. They're freaking expensive. If I decide I need one I'll probably just make one.

the dummies that actually suck are more money and you need to buy them in a different sort of store, on the up side, they now have one that looks EXACTLY like Tera Patrick

I think the grappling dummies are just a money making gimmick. If you can at least train grappling with live people twice a week, you're better off. A live training partner can give you feed back if you're doing a technique wrong or right.

I think the grappling dummies are just a money making gimmick. I don't know… they make a pretty good strength training tool… ala a sandbag… or an old beat up heavybag… toss it around… jump on it… make your neighbors phone the TIPS hotline…… you can hang it up… it's now a heavybag or an (insert the person you hate most) efergy(or however you spell the d@mn word)... if i had that kind of disposable income... i would cop one...
