I don't know about calves, but I know that some Olympic lifters (the big, fat guys) have HUGE vertical leaps (despite being very heavy) due to the explosiveness of their training.

But I don't really know anything about training for jump height. Sorry.

at the moment, my aerials are far from spectacluar, and while I have reasonable height and flexibility in all my kicks, personally, I plan to explore monkey styles for this purpose...as far I can judge core and lower back 've gotta come into it, cause, what are you do once you're in the air? Maybe work on some flexiblity...like working your splits and getting strength in that, until you can solidly get your chin to your toes....sounds crazy, but dude...that's the standard, and hopefully I'll be hitting it some time soon myself.....here's some thing....what about about a weighted (by pulley) pistol,on toes or balls then planted foot flat... but with your inner foot facing the floor then roof???...bounce should just be a bi-product..but then again I'm no expert either LOL...

Pylometrics in general,be active
But try this routine
http://www.powerathletesmag.com/pages/hangtime.htm
Box Jumps, Hops,Burpees, Pistols,Springs,Knees to Chest all can't hurt.
Work out a structured routine stick to it,evalute progress, adapt and change as needed.
See what you think
