You can train your abs for hypertrophy the same as you'd train any other muscle. That's why some people have big abs.

fair enough and you're right...great looking backs and not alot of chicks look that good...maybe it's just there pose ( like with ...what r those little muscles under rohmboids and posterior delts??...them...like bruce lees....kinda...:D) but I'm sure I've been sinewier recently ..same with abs...I guess I just like to normally be a lil more ripped...I've been busy, so not in reg routine...but I lokk pretty similar at the moment and am dissappointed I haven't had time to work harder... least now I don't feel so bad ;) :p :D

I was considering that pic as I headed home last night...and I think she won a fan.....she obviously works hard and I dig that....It's been a long time since I've seen anyone even nearly that competitive.....In fact, I was so inspired I went home and did a new 500 pb on the pushups, a couple of hundred tris, a solid thousand abs, a bunch of squats to mabu, pistols, few hundred leg presses, 1000 isometric glutes, some qigong, and so on....


to sum it up...props all the way....credit where due :cool::D

It really is. With any luck, come the summer, I'll basically be training all the time. By the end of the year, I should be certified by the ISSA, and be employed by the gym which houses my dojo.

Just to set the record straight (and stop the bs):

1 - an editorial spread on Ralph, Max, etc, unless a celeb is featured, pays beween $400 and $800 net to the model, and that is in a big market like Italy or UK, Australia is about 30% less.

2 - GQ or other top selling male mags, in a big market, only pay $200 - $400 because they give the girl big exposure which will get her other modelling work.

3 - general editorial modelling work pays never more than $1000, and is never on contract thus it's a one-off gig not "per week" ...

4 - catalogue or advert work can pay a non-famous model between $1000 and $10000 per distribution market.

5 - a TVC (TV commercial) on average between $2000 and $20000 depending on on-air duration etc.

6 - fashion parades and showroom work about $200 per day.

These are all prices for a good model (not famous celeb) with a top agency. Also this type of model will work sporadically (say a job every 20-30 castings) so some months she might earn $10000, others $100.

Final note, we are talking about non-famous but top girls with Elite, Ford, or other such agency.
There are 1000s of girls with small agencies who do little jobs and are lucky to make a few $100s per year from modelling, mostly cheap nudish suff or stand work at expos and such.

Wow, the more this girl talks, the bigger the hole gets (not to mention her ego).

I recently signed on with an agency for models, actors, etc. I have to just get a few pictures done and then I'll be officially ready. I already have 3 jobs ready. A movie extra, pants model pictures, and full body clothes pictures.
The move extra is 80$. Pant job is 100$ and the full body shot is 300$.

I know several models and photographers (most still schooling), and even the ones that have been doing it for a long time, never got more than 3k a week. Once in awhile it was 5k. But the jobs are totally random and you could work this month, but not the next two. Saying you'd get 10k a week is, well, obsurd. Even the top models probably don't get that much. Think about it, thats half a million a year. You really think an intermediate model is getting that much? Maybe the top 20 OF THE WORLD!

Personally, I think most of your comments are purely ego driven.

As for my new found part-time career in modeling/acting (knock on wood), I'm just hoping to make 100-200 a week. That's enough for me :)

I'm still trying to figure that out. I put up a profile on starsearchcasting.com like over a year ago and never got any offers. Then 10 days ago, I get an email from a guy asking to come in for a casting call thing. I went and there was like 15 people there and they took one in at a time. I was talking to the guy for a lil while just answering questions and stuff. He said he liked my personality and such and said to come in the next week. It's true what he said to everyone "Your looks will get you in the door, but that's all. Afterwards, its your personality and motivation that get you far in this business."
It was definitely true cause I saw them turn away some gorgeous girls, but you could tell they were ego-money-hungry biattches.
But I'm new to all this, so not sure what to expect. I'm desperately trying to find a student photographer who can take some pics of me. I dont want to go to a professional one cause they charge waaaaaay too much.
But I'll let you know as I get more info.
btw, what city are you in? I'll ask if they have an office there.


BTW: Anyone watch that Top Model show? I was sooooo ****ed they cut that asian-american girl. Man she was amazing. The only girl I like left is the one with short hair. Kinda reminds me of angelina jolie or that girl from 40 days/nights (she's also in A Knights Tale)

The one with short brown hair looks good sometimes, but not other times. I hate the way they give all these models short haircuts, tho. Like the blonde chick on that show started crying and was all like "I look like a boy." She did, kinda. I don't like the "pixie cut" or whatever they call it, no matter how many times people try to tell me it looks good. Even on that show "Ambush Makeover," if you watch that, where they get random girls (and sometimes guys) on the street and make them over, they seem to love cutting off girls' long hair and giving them boy haircuts. To be with a top modelling agency your measurements MUST be (girls - centimeters):

bust - 84 to 94
waist - 56 to 64
hips - 86 to 94
height - 172 to 182

They measure the girls every few months and you better be in that range otherwise you're in trouble (you wouldn't fit the clothes well and also not photograph well).
About 25% of models are in those ranges genetically, thus eat plenty and live normally. The remaining 75% have to diet (and in extreme cases develop eating disorders) to stay in that range. Sad and not very positive for the industry and society as a whole.

This refers to models working for top agencies in NY, Milan, Paris, London. Models doing small jobs and image work (eg. expo stands), or nudie stuff, for small agencies don't have such strict standards ... but also don't earn much at all.

For males the measuement ranges are a bit more lax, however height is a must for good agencies, 178cm minimum, 182-186 ideal.

US$ 0-5,000 annual income - most models or wannabe models, with small to medium agencies around the world.

US$ 5,000-20,000 annual income - models with medium to good agencies, working mostly in good advertising markets (eg. NY, LA, etc).

US$ 50,000-150,000 annual income - models with top agencies in top markets with good market response and the right look for the time (2% of the model population at the most).

Was talking to one of my friends who's been modeling since she was 12. She doesn't really like it anymore, but says she loves all the makeup and outfits. She claims she won't take any job for less than 150/hr. I forgot to ask how long a job usually is. She said its bad to take the "one sum" jobs because those tend to go on forever. Last one she did started at 7am and ended at 5am.
She does it now maybe once a month.
