Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Seven dude, that is Fade to Black, one of Metallica's most greatest classics of all times

Things are not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can’t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he’s gone

No one but me
can save myself, but it’s too late
Now I can’t think, think why I should even try

Yesterday seems
as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye

Mmm, I gotta say, I was a bit worried when I read that Xebby. It's pretty much a suicide anthem. Didn't Metallica get into trouble when a few people killed themselves after it was released? Still, if a song is enough to inspire you to commit suicide, there's something very wrong .

The 2pac stuff in the tagline is pretty good advice. As is 7*'s. And Kung Lek's.

Trust me on this, I know from serious depression.

No, actually, if I remember correctly, Metallica received lots of letters and stuff from fans telling them that they were suicidal but after hearing that song they decided not to kill themselves.

Well, according to the cute trashy girl who sat next to me in 10th grade English class, somebody knew so-and-so who knew someone who like, totally wrote down the lyrics to the song and then like, totally killed themselves. It was totally sad.

What was really sad is how Metallica totally sold out and commercialized their sound, and at the MTV Video Music Awards a couple years ago, there was an internet poll where fans could vote on which song Metallica was going to play live on TV - hordes of old-time fans logged onto the MTV site and overwhelmingly voted for "Fade to Black" -- then those Fu(kheads go and fu(king sing it in some fu(king Eddie Vedder voice and like, totally ruined the song for the real fu(cking fans.

What's really annoying is Metallica's new album.

Got guitar solos? Nope.

Got worlds-most-annoying-snare-drum drowning out every other instrument? Yup!

Got chord changes? Nope, not very often.

Got suck? Yup.

Metallica was awesome up until this point. I even liked Load and ReLoad, which a lot of people hated. Altho I disagree with their stance on the whole Napster thing, I still respected them as musicians. I don't respect their new album, tho. Sorry guys.

Gotta do a Murphys, Pogues (MacGowan related bands), Floggin Molly, Black 47, Ducky Boys, or otherwise qualifying Irish drinkin songs each day until after St Paddy's day (next wed).

Oh yah, Boston folks wish my trip was for next week instead of this week. Just got back. Tried to call Boston San Shou to let 'em know that I was gonna be busy up in Bedford and wouldn't be able to make it down to the gym in time for any class; but all I got on the phone was City Gym folks and I guess they're not big on leaving messages. Plus yah shoulda told me you were near fenway... nice little suprise for a Yankees fan...

Gonna hit 2 on this post (check the sig).

Kiss Me I'm Sh!tfaced
Written by Dropkick Murphys

I play in a band, we're the best in the land
We're big in both Chelsea and France
I play one mean guitar and then score at the bar
There's a line of chicks waiting for their chance
So come on now honey, I'll make you feel pretty
These other gals mean nothing to me
Let's finish these drinks and be gone for the night
"Cause I'm more than a handful, you'll see

(chorus)
So kiss me I'm sh!tfaced
I'm soaked I'm soiled and brown
In the trousers, she kissed me
And I only bought her one round

I can bench-press a car, I'm an ex-football star
With degrees from both Harvard and Yale
Girls just can't keep up, I'm a real love machine
I've had far better sex while in jail!
I've designed the Sears Tower, I make two grand an hour
I cook the world's best Duck Flambe
I'll take the pick of the litter, girls jockey for me
I don't need these lines to get laid

I'm a man of the night, a real ladies delight
See my figure was chiseled from stone
One more for the gal then I'll escort her home
Come last call I'm never alone
I've a house on the hill with a red waterbed
That puts Hugh Heffner's mansion to shame
With girls by the pool and Italian sports cars
I'm just here in this dump for the game...

I'm a pitiful sight, and I ain't all that bright
I'm definitely not chiseled from stone
I'm a cheat and a liar, no woman's desire
I'll probably die cold and alone...
...but just give me a chance, 'cause deep down inside
I swear I've got a big heart of gold
I'm a monogamous man, no more one night stands
Come on honey, let me take you home.

Well according to their website:
http://www.dropkickmurphys.com/discography/index.html
there's some stuff before Do Or Die; but that was like the first full length album as opposed to a random collection of singles from eps.

My personal fave has been Gang's All Here; tho "Barroom Hero" is probably their best song.
Just got Sing Loud, Sing Proud! and Blackout.
I'm digging a lot of songs off of Blackout.
Sing's alright, but the MacGowan song, Wild Rover, and McHaggis Jig are probably the best songs on the album, which isn't such a good thing when each is kind of a gimmick.

Still, Murphys' consistancy is a lot better than that of Black47- who have 1 great song, and cd upon cd of blaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh.

---
I've lost all the time that I have in this world
I've spent it unwisely, unwisely you see
And I can't get it back and I can't move forward
I'm broken and I'm empty, it's over for me
If I could undo all the wrongs that I've caused
Fall to my knees, pray for swiftness and just
For I'm just a fool, a fool driven to dust
And the world ain't gonna change for me

So give me one more chance to prove these problems and frustrations
Aren't just manifest in memories we're destined to repeat
A second chance to prove I know right from wrong
I swear I'll do things different but can't promise to be strong

(chorus)
So come all you losers, you *******s and cheats
Vagrants and barflies down on the street
Follow this path to salvation, vindication awaits
We're marching on East Broadway tonight

If you could look into this old face and try to see the young man
I swear I once was pretty, not the monster you now see
But I squandered all my chances, lost my faith and took for granted
This life and precious one chance, the whirlwind I'll wreak

If I could undo all the wrongs that I've caused
Fall to my knees, pray for swiftness and just
For I'm just a fool, a fool driven to dust
And the world ain't gonna change for me

(chorus)

Metallica usually isn't so bad compared to what's out there now, but they hit a certain point where they began to suck a donkey compared to their former selves. That point is the "Black" album - the one with "Sandman" - that's when they began to suck. Cooincidentally, they had way more commercial success with that album then ever before. Have any of you ever heard their 1st album, when they had a garage band sound?

Okay, let's explore this logic further. I will quote (maybe not word for word, but close enough) someone smarter than myself.

"If songs could make people do anything, we would all love another. We have a song about dental floss, but that doesn't mean people are flossing more."

Frank Zappa (RIP).

And of course a few words about the freedom of speech and artistic freedom might be in order....

More love, less prejudice :)

^ I think the Black album is awesome.

Their first album... do you mean Kill 'em All? I don't like that album very much. There's a couple cool songs but it's not my thing.

Or do you mean Garage Days as their "first" album?

Been a fan since 1984...

(Well, okay, not so much anymore, even Justice wasn't my cup of tea anymore. Lars's drumming has pretty much always been awful, and James and Cliff only took him in for his contacts...or so it is told...But the first four albums KICKED A$$!!!)

Had the 1st 5 albums on tape. Recently upgraded Ride the Lightning, Master Of Puppets and And Justice For All to CD and I've been listening to those a bit. After And Justice they sucked. Big time. And Justice was masterful technical metal. That's what I liked most about metal, the technical prowess. After And Justice that just disappeared. Like a lot of bands of the time, I guess. I was listening to some Stone Temple Pilots the other day. Core and Purple were excellent, then they just sucked. Same thing.

Yeah, Toby is right. After they lost their "thrash" sound they ceased to be, pretty much. I was referring to the Garage Days Revisited album, BTW. "Black" was kind of intermediate sucky, with just one good song. There was no thrash from Black onward. Then, some time later, dude starts to sing in this ghey-ass Eddie Vedder knock-off voice, and they ****ing cut their hair and went on MTV.

I said it before, I'm sayin' it now, and I'll most likely say it again. You want technical prowess? Try this duo from Sacramento known as Hella.
