Hey Gene and Northernshaolin,
Do you know of any good lineages of Sun Yu Fung, Wan Lai Sheng and Ku Yu Cheung in specifically Hong Kong and Guangzhou. If so could you please give me some details eg contact or names.
Is the six Harmonies spear from WLS or KYC? That is not the same spear form that WLS refers to as the "24 Gold Spear" is it?

Thanks

KF,

Wan Li Sheng's spear set, Six harmonies or 6 combinations, is the same as Kuo Yu Chang's. They were of best of friends and greatly respected each other's abilities. They exchanged and shared their knowledge with each other and WLS even gave the few students (Yim Shan Wu) he had to KYC. And yes it is the famous "24 golden spear".

However in WLS last series of Six Combination books (1985) in three volumes, his 6 combination spear which is found in volume 2 is different than his original 6 Combination spear set in his first book published in 1925.

Why is that? He was thrown in jail by the PRC in the 1950's and was forced to re-think his TCMA and "Wu Shu ize" his style or choose to die in jail. So guess what he did. Hence KYC's spear and WLS spear sets are now different.

You can thank buddhapalm for these web sites:

www.hmhk.mainpage.net is the main web site but right now it appears to be down. This one is on SYF's BSL Lo Han.

However here are some pages from the web site:

Hi Northernshaolin,
Thankyou for the information. It is sad that Wan Lai sheng had to wushu-ize his martial arts.
So now in Hong Kong and Guangzhou there is no more successors to Wan Lai sheng's legacy?
Also is Sifu Charles Lee the only teacher in Hong Kong teaching KYC 's lineage? Are there other good lineages left in Guangzhou or Hong Kong stemming from other students of kYC? I would of thought YSM had lots of students.

Thanks again for the information.

Sifu Charles Li or Li Chun Hung is brother of the late CLF sifu, Lee Koon Hung, as well as my wife's uncle. I didn't know he had a website so thanks for the link.

I would think he has some sihing dai in and around Hong Kong. I know Chan Kwok Wai teaches in Brazil and is quite a bit older than Sifu Li.

Peace.

KF,

WLS still has many disciples in the Fulkin area. That is where he retired and passed away. However, many of his disciples teach under the style, Natural Boxing rather than under Six Combination. Interesting part of Natural Boxing does not have any sets per say. However WLS's disciples are using sets from Six Combinations to teach Natural Boxing concepts. So what they have done, basicly combined the teaching of two styles into something new and then Wu Shu-ize it.

There is a web site but I cannot remember it right now, that is under Natural boxing or Spontaneous Boxing, who are disciples of WLS. I'll search for it. Do a search here on KFO because that is where I got the address. I also got it from Buddahpalm if he still has it.

YSM had many disciples in Canton and HK area but many elected not teach. Also many do not have access to computers and do not have web sites because they are of the older generation.

Natural Boxing Master Gu Jian Liang Teaching a Student
performed by Master Gu Jian Liang. (Submitted 10 Aug 2003). He is teaching the first set on Six Combination but they call it Natural Boxing (which of course has no hand sets of their own).
Unfortunately it is temporary down.
