The workshop was both very informative and fun. There wer about an hour or so of lectures on the differences between Chi Sim and Hung Fa Yi before we worked out. Heaven, Man & Earth were the main topics covered, as well as some detail history of each system, how they correlate and then branch separately out with the destruction of the Southern Temple. From there some comparisons were made between the two systems initial training methodologies, illustrating key differences and similarities such as body methods compared to formula training. After that some core concepts of shared by each system were discussed, chiefly the concepts of H, M, E.

Physical training consisted of half an hour or so of Fa Kuen, drilling and teaching the shapes of the form to everyone as a warm up. After that, we focused the rest of the time on Jung Sin Jong Sau. We practiced our structures solo and then with partners, eventually adding in Taan Da to the mix. Practice on the Jongs was also part of the training that day, learing the first four movements of the Jong Form and their applications. Jung Sin Jong Sau was then played from a rooted position, then from a more liveley positions as our opponents upped the ante by moving around and throwing less predictable punches, allowing us to practice the applications learned in the Jong Form. Sifu Meng then brielfy covered some of the applications of Jong Sai within Don Chi Sai exercises. We practiced these for about another half an hour or so before finishing up and repeating the cycle again for reinforcement.

All in all, it was an enjoyable day of kung fu.
