I found this, I don't know if it's manhattan, it says New York

Bottom line, no style is " the best", but remember to practice the ancient monastery arts, not reality based self defense

I'm studying Hsing-I now, and at times the material turns into E-Chuan. Tues. and Fri. nights are the core classes for students, for folks wanting to travel down the martial path with my master. Starts with Hsing-I 5 requirements (bear, eagle, chicken foot, tiger head/hands and dragon body). This is to learn mechanics.

On any given night we can do ground drills, locking drills, kick drills, depends on the theme at the time.

Taiji classes are during the day. I stop in when I can sneak away from work. I find it very interesting. Not what I thought a taiji class would be like. Very martial focused.

I can't stress this enough, if you're in NYC anyway, just stop by. The only thing you have to lose isthe pain-in-the-arse walk up the 7 flights of stairs.... and during the day (when taiji is taught) the elevator works.

Check out H.Won Tai Chi. He trained under Gin Soon Chu in Boston, who was a student of Yang Sau Chung. He is highly-skilled and passionate about the traditional real Yang Style Tai Chi that he teaches. You'll definately recieve thorough teaching from him. His Website is :

www.nytaichi.com

If you like Yang style tai chi, you'll be happy with him.

Please tell me about Master Su and his school. Is application and fighting taught?

I would second the H Won Institute in NYC. H Won teaches the real traditional stuff not this hippy-yoga like tai chi that so many other places are teaching.

Yeah I am looking for that "real", non-watered down stuff, but the beginner classes are at 5:00. People work, ya know. I am probably going to try william Chen's and Mater Su's Pachi Tang Lang institute. I like the late hours on weekdays.

I have nothing against the "hippy-yoga" aspects of martial arts I just think that if the martial aspect is ingored or down-played, then you're really not getting the full picture.

Master Su is all about applications. If you have an opportunity to learn some material from him, take it. Master Su definintely can use his taijiquan and his other styles he teaches. So far, I have not met anybody as fast as him.
