Hello stubbs,

Before there was glucosamine sulfate, Chondroitin sulfate and MSM, there was shark cartilage. Its purpose was to help assist in the repair of the joints suffering from wear and tear. I have never heard anything positive about it; but then again there are those who will swear by glandulars (I am partial to powdered dessicated liver).

Glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate came out in the late 1980's. They worked to repair the joints and was supposed to be good for the repair of connective tissues. They were the rave until there was info about their negative affect on insulin levels.

MSM came out in the early to mid 1990's. It is supposed to be an essential connective tissue building block. Not just for joints-- but for hair, skin, everything.

I hope this helps,

mickey

thanks mickey.

do you know how much i'd need if i was just taking it for maintenance? think i should just play around and see what feels right? does this seem like good stuff? they're making some pretty hefty claims!

i clicked on a link sometime back (can't remember where it is) but it said that chondroitin can give you cancer. not that it really bothers me. it seems like everything you take gives you cancer these days.

oh, and whats difference between glucosamin sulphate and glucosamine HCL?

cheers

Hello stubbs,

This is the first that I have heard of glucosamine HCL. If there is a product that you should try I would suggest MSM -- that is the second ingredient on the bottle that you posted. In the U.S. it is available in 1000mg tablets. It is good stuff. Depending on how I feel I take two to four tablets a night (as needed) to facillitate repair. Your needs may vary.

I cannot recommend the product that you are referring to. I have not tried it, nor do I want to.
