I'm trying to sort something out for a site I'm working on and I don't want to leave any martial arts related topics out so how would you categorize martial arts into a few (say less than 10) categories? by country? by style? internal/external?

im thinking chinese. japanese & okinowan(sp?), malaysian, korean, russian & european, south american, mma, other, and maybe having internal arts as separate. i dunno i can't decide. any suggestions?

cheers,

Why do you feel the need to further classify them?

What do you want to accomplish?

What basis' would you like to look at?

its for a forum. i'd like to have some kind of categorization rather than just ma, thats too vast.

by too vast i mean one section of the forum might get clogged up with too many posts, so i'd like to break it down into smaller sections. i can't decide how to though

japanese
chinese
korean
internal
other

malaysian, russian, filipino, european, etc. likely won't draw enough posts to warrant their own forum. They can fall under "Other".
