View Full Version : I want to see Mikey's Wing Chun Mook Jong! (...and that's not as disgusting as it sounds!)

In the post, "How do you make a Wing Chun Dummy?" a user by the name of Mikey said he made his own, and was going to post a picture of it. He posted the picture last week, and it is still pending moderation. Mikey, if you read this, email me the pic. Thanks. :D

Excellent Mook Jong, man. Looks like you use it quite a bit too, nice and broken in. It looks just as good, if not better than anything you'd find at a Martial Arts store...and for a fraction of the price! Nice job, dude...

shoot it to me at shinmen18@NOSPAMhotmail.com

except take out the "NOSPAM" part. that's just there to fu¬Ęk with the spambots.

Goodness is that great lookin. How much would you sell one for if you made another one.And what kind of wood is that?

05-24-2001, 11:26 PM
the body is southern pine,so are the vertical
supports.the arms,leg,and horizontal supports
are red oak.
I'll have to think about making another.it was rather time consuming(about 2 and a half weeks).
of course, now that I have a clue it would probably be easier.

Is there any chance I could have a look too.

Okay, I'd like a looksee also, pulease. My e-mail is Munhung777@aol. I'm also curious as to how much the jong weighs with and without the arms and leg. Thanks.

05-25-2001, 07:49 PM
sorry,I'm not going to take it down
to throw it on a scale.
a rough guesstimate would be that the body weighs
about 70 lbs. and the arms and leg ,maybe 10lbs.
or so.the oak horizontal supports really put up
resistance,and they're strong as hell.

From what I can see; it seems like you did a really nice job on your jong. What did you use to make the holes? Curious. Very good work. Not a bad polaroid either. ;)

05-26-2001, 03:04 PM
thank you.
I used a 1/4" foot long drill bit for a pilot
hole,then opened it up with a 1 3/4"boring bit
(it's a big, flat drill bit for boring holes in
wood).then I squared the holes with a keyhole
saw and a wood rasp.
