I'm new to Kung Fu. Not new to martial arts, but to Kung Fu. I am looking for training aides on learning the forms. A co-worker of mine studies Judo, and the website http://www.judoinfo.com/techjudo.htm has some kickass animations of the Judo throws, and I was wondering if there are any Kung Fu sites with this type of information for the forms. Just something that I would like to study on my own time...Thanks in advance.

Well, it's a little more complicated than Judo because A) there are 100s of styles and B) there are 1,000s of forms and variations of those forms.

So, I guess the first question is, what style? The second question is, what forms?

Haha, I figured so much.

My style is called Pyong An Do Won (long story, don't ask), but it's a fusion of sorts. I was just introduced to the forms last night, and I cannot recall all of the names. I know we were doing Crane, Tiger (tail???), etc...I don't know, if this sounds familiar, let me know. If not, it's cool.

PS: It's a mixture of Shaolin style, and Wudang Mountain...I guess, still learning.

Pyong An is Korean for Pinan... like the Okinawan karate kata. That what we called them when I studied TKD back in the 80's. Dunno what the Do Wan part is...

Don Baird is the grandmaster of the system, I am training with one of his students. If someone can deduce what forms I'm doing, haha, I'd really appreciate it. I want to see if there are any illustrated ones online that I could print up. Your help is appreciated.

Sorry. I doubt if you'll find too many here in the Shaolin Forum with experience in that style. You might cross-post in the main forum to see if anybody there knows something.

I read over that link. What does your chi sao training involve? That is a big part of wing chun.

Honestly, I just started a couple of weeks ago. When I get down all of the specific things, I'll let you guys know. I'm still getting down the basics of this specific system.
