I cancelled my gym membership yesterday, and I just got confirmation today for a May 8th delivery AND set-up of my:

Power Rack
Olympic Bar
6-45 lbs plates, 2-35 lbsplates, 2-25 lbs plates, 2-10 lbs plates, 4-5 lbs plates, & 2-2.5 lbs plates
2-20kg bumper plates, 2-10kg bumper plates
Incline, Decline, Flat Bench
4'x6'x1/2" Rubber Floor Mat
2 pairs of spring collars
Weight Plate Tree

BTW I know all you need is 45 lbs plates with 2 25's, 2 10's, 2 5's, and 2 2.5's and you'll have everyt increment but the bar came with all the plates and it was cheaper that way. So now I'll have 485 lbs in olympic weight plates (I had 2 other 25's) and an extra 135 lbs in bumper plates. That'll do me for a while.

Once it's all set-up I'll post some pics.

No hatin'. It's not like I have a full set of kettlebells, some clubbells, a dragging sled, and... oh wait a second. Yeah I do. :p

Lung, I got the bumper plates online and I was able to track everything else down to a place about 20 miles from my apartment. I saved mucho cash by doing this instead of the internet, and they'll assemble everything for me.

Stubbs, I pay $804/year in gym fees. All this equipment cost me $1,050. In just two years, I'd save nearly $600. 3 years, $1200 4 years $2000... Sure I'm getting some cardio equipment for winter, but I'll still be even for two years. Plus it's more convenient, I have 24-7 access, I don't have to put up with meat heads curling in the only squat rack, it'll never be crowded, I don't have to lug 100+ lbs worth of chains and sleds to the gym... The list goes on and on. More than worth it, IMO.

fair enough. i spend ?32 a month for my gym membership. not sure how much all that equipment would cost over here, probably a bit more expensive but i get my whey protein from my gym and they sell it cheaper than trade prices because the owner of the gym knows and athlete who's sponsoured by reflex and can get loads of cheap sups :D

i save about ?15 per 5lb tub on my whey, which im quite lucky to have so its worth me staying there. plus the gyms not too busy most of the time except for the first couple of months after new years where everyones trying to keep to their resolutions. i would love to have all my own equipment at home tho! im starting to make my own collection of 'specialised' equipment...gonna buy a sledge hammer from the local market this weekend :D

Haha! Good stuff. BTW, how much you pay for protein? I only pay about 15 pounds per 5-lbs tub. Is it more expensive across the atlantic? Is it like petro? Haha! Suckers. :p

****! ?15 a tub?!?!!!! most good branded proteins over here are about ?35-?40 for a 5lb tub. i pay ?25. ******! everything over here is so expensive but i don't think there's enough demand over here for it to get much cheaper.

im lucky to have found the gym i go to. two guys own it, one is an ex bodybuilder and the other ran for england in the olympics. both know their stuff and are always willing to help out and the other people that train in the gym are great, everyone talks to everyone so its a good atmosphere.

and petrol! don't even start! when i got my car (its only a small car) about 6 months ago its cost me ?28/29 to fill the tank full and now it costs about ?33/34. thats quite a big jump in 6 months. aarrgghhh!!

im gonna keep this in my favourites in case it gets much worse :D http://www.workpermit.com/us/employee_form.htm

lol! You guys get screwed over there. I do a lot of international work in Europe, so whenever they hear me complaining about $1.80 gallons, I get an ear full from them. I've been hearing a lot about that bio-deisel stuff though.

Oh, yeah. I love my home setup. I'm lagging behind you in equipment, but similar setup. However, my old H.S. sent me the latest rowing club newsletter and they're selling some old Concept II Model C's for 1/2 the new price. So I'm seriously considering getting one for my wife's birthday :D. She used to row too, so she'll appreciate it.

Biodiesel is coming in in the next few years in Oz (at servos - you can always brew your own, though), but it'll cost more than regular diesel. Then again, I get twice the mpg of the same vehicle with a V8 with my diesel so it's all good. We get screwed by the government. Almost half the price of fuel is taxes.
