I have posted this under 2 other topics becouse im not sure were it goes.can you learn from instructional tapes.What tape series would you recomend.What style.I was thinking mantis,wing chun,or a shaolin.

Yes you can learn from instructional tapes, but IMO it is not as good as learning from personal instruction. However if tapes are all that is available to you, then you gotta do the best you can with them :)

If you're learning from tapes, it's best if:

1. You have *some* prior MA experience, even if it's in another art.

2. You have a partner to work the techniques and spar (lightly at first) with.

what part of fl are you in? there's bound to be plenty of good instruction somewhere near you. It's not a good idea to learn from tapes - at least not solely from them. Use them to supplement your formal training.

if instruction is not available near how about going to seminars in other cities as often as you can? i think even that would be more beneficial than tapes
