First of all I want to say HELLO, I 'm new here, have been reading this forum for a week now and finally got my account. But I still have some questions that you guys will probably be able to answer

-You guys know any sites with free downloadable videos about wing chuin or something, I mean where you see guys actually perform stuff (I don't practice WC with a trainer yet and in books it's not always well explained)

-You guys know sites with some descent WC moves (text files) as well as about its history

-The most important one: I read loads of posts that were about you guys meditating and seeing stuff, finding certain inner strength, or high awarneness etc...

Now I searched my local library (In Belgium) and the internet but didn't find any descent information about the kind of meditating to find that inner power which makes you feel "stronger" after meditating. So can someone here tell me exactly how to get started (position etc...) or perhaps also give a good url awhere there is a good text file ,or just mail me a text file ?

mail = chan_tzu@hotmail.com

THANKS !

But do you perhaps know any REALLY GOOD instruction video tapes ? Not too expensive please :) But tell me please , but only if it's worth the money and if it is for BEGINNERS , it can be a video on WC or some stuff about finding your Chi or whatever :) (don't forget to mention where I can order it)

I think one of the best beginning instructional tapes on Wing Chun is Wong Shun Leung's "Science of Infighting" tape. You can find it on Amazon.com.

I just bought one from there, but the **** thing didn't work! Am waiting to see if I can exchange it for another copy! :) I hear that even though its only 40 minutes long, its one of the best tapes available.

I just got mine yesterday from there as well.....and it worked fine after a little tracking problem at the beginning.

There's a cool/amusing kung-fu-theatreish fight scene between a "Wing Chun" guy and some "Long Fist" guy.

It's great. Wong Shun Leung had some serious power.

It helped me a lot to practice my form at home (love that rewind button! :) ) and gain understanding of principles.

I liked the opening WC vs longfist sequence.
The only thing that sucked about the tape was the cheesy 70's pornmovie soundtrack. :D

A guy in my kwoon bought that set, I didn't think it was good. They tried to make it flashy, instead of explaining principles. Too commercial, one of those "hey, you too can be a badass, just do these secret moves!" kinda thing.

I liked the Augustine Fong series better. The guy is a tad full of himself, but he conveys the basics pretty well. If you want to buy his tapes, don't get them from his website (fongswinchun.com) they are like $40 each. You can get a way better deal at Panther Video (panthervideo.com, it comes to like $20 a tape from them :)

Watchman: You think only boys ever watch that junk? How are you gonna know good porn from bad if you don't watch at least some of both? ;) I don't want to go too far on this thread, beacuse Martial Arts and sex are two different things and should stay that way. But in my opinion, they haven't made a decent porn flick since Devil in Miss Jones. Everything out now is worse that garbage, a complete waste of money and braincells. But then again, it's not my cuppa tea, so who am I to judge :D

Cowboy: It was that Velveeta spray cheese :D

You can get videos at the Ving Tsun Museum website - click here (http://shop.vtmuseum.org/shop.cgi/page=index.htm) and then select videos. One thing - the videos are not in PAL format.

You can find a fair selection of articles here (http://home.vtmuseum.org/articles/index.php)

And I would suggest you poke around windycitywingchun as they have a large number of video clips on their site.

You can also find articles at www.wingchun.com (http://www.wingchun.com) and www.wingchun.org (http://www.wingchun.org)

Regards, and good luck...

OH! - the Wing Chun player in the beginning of Sifu Wong Shong Leung's video is Sifu Lay Hoi Sung. He played in Prodical Son as one of the two teachers (the taller one) of Leung Jan. He is one of the major people in the Hong Kong movie industry that is consulted for Wing Chun action in movies. He's a a nice gentleman that I got the chance to meet during the VTAA's 1st World Conference.
