View Full Version : What is it with boxing glove thumbs?

I've never worn a pair of boxing gloves where the thumb allowed you to make a comfortable fist. It's almost like you gotta make those thumb-on-top fists. Why are they like this?

I just got some Title Boxing "Training" boxing gloves (the $35 ones) and the thumb sucks. I mean, it's just like any other boxing glove, but that just means I don't feel like I'm making a tight fist. The padding is a bit harder than what I'm used to, too. Any tips to soften it up?

The thumbs are attached so you can't eye gouge your opponents while fighting. You'll get used to them mate, just use them and they'll get softer.

thumb sucks. anyone?

I hate guys who make the "boxing glove" fist when they are like showing you something barehand. "then I was like, then I was like" and they got their thumb up. It's like yeah dude you know the REAL way. :p
