I do medical studies to get $ and did one about 5 weeks ago. They did bunch of tests on me and I was glad to get a copy of some of my #'s. Note that these tests were taken about about 4-5 months of relatively low activity on my part. I've only started working out vigorously the past 2 weeks. Before that, all I did was running 1x a week and some pullups. So I think these #'s are pretty darn good considering I was "out of shape" at the time.

Currently I weigh 158 and am trying to cut 1.5"-2" off my belly. Would like to end up about 165 at the end of summer.

Height/weight: 171.45 cm/69.55 kg

Waist: 74.5 cm (fat!)
Hip: 95.5 cm
WHR: .78 (normal is <1.0)

BMI: 23.7 kg/m^2 (normal is 18.5-24.9)

Fat %: 11.03 (would like to get this down to 8-9% by end of summer)
It says Top 30%=11.8, top 20%=9.4, top 10% 7.1. This is for my age group though (20-29)

Triglycerides: 90 mg/dL (says Normal is <200 and desirable is <150... I'm pretty good for that then!)

Blood Cholesterol: Total: 130 mg/dL
LDL: 63 mg/dL
HDL 51 mg/dL
Total Chol/HDL ratio: 2.7
Says Normal total is 100-199.
Normal HDL=40-77
LDL: desirable=62-130
Total ratio: normal <4

blood glucose level 94 mg/dL. It was only taken on one day, so its not an accuate reading it says. Says you're suppose to take it over a couple days to get good reading.
says Normal (fasting) 65-99
Normal (post-meal) 150

Resting blood pressure was 124/80 mmHg.
When they had that thing on the arm that tightens the guy said "113/50" Have no idea whats going on there, but they were pretty impressed. Every time I get my blood pressure taken, they always ask "you exercise alot?" "um, sorta" "yes, can tell"
says normal is 120-129 and 80-84. Optimal is <120 and <80. So i'm just about at optimal!

Resting heart rate was 45 bpm

Max heart rate: 190 bpm. Dont know if thats good or not.

And finally, My pride and Joy! VOxMax
was a whopping 62.3 ml/kg/m
says top 30% is 46.8, top20%=48.2 and top 10%=51.4
They were all really amazed at the level I had. VOxMax is about how well your blood cells use the oxygen you breath in. They said Neil Armstrong has the highest with an 84.x. i think I have a high level from running and breathing exercises I do. Maybe from food I eat too.

Well, tahts all the #'s they gave me. I say not bad for being "outa shape". would love to get re-tested at the end of summer.

Oh, and Rub, see if they can up the time before they log someone out. Thankfully, I always cntrl-a, cntrl-c my posts before I send.

Nice stats, inic.

Iron, I've seen my resting HR go as low as 43bpm. That was about a year ago lying in bed. Also a couple of weeks ago sitting on the rowing ergo before starting. I often go sub-50 just sitting around. But I (and I think inic) am older than you.

Mine's like 60-65. But then again, that's just from lifting weights. I don't do much cardio.

But after a set of 5RM or so in squats or deadlifts it gets up to around 130. Is that high?

Nup. IIRC the most important thing is how quickly your HR varies anyway. Like I commonly get up in the 170's while HIIT'ing, but it goes back down quickly. I'm in the 130's while warming up for HIIT. Used to be a slow shuffling jog around the oval. Now it's rowing with a 2:30/500m time with 10 resistance on the Concept II (rowers will understand). Minimal cardio effort.

what about that VO2max thing huh? I'm so proud of that. btw, is 190 for max heart rate good or bad?

mhr is estimated at 220 minus your age, so you have the heart rate of a 30-year-old?

something's odd with that, but that's just an estimate anyway.

kinda like saying sevenstar, at 225 and 5'9", is 50-75 pounds overweight -- no context whatsoever. the big fatty. :D

Yeah. I'm 30 and my theoretical MHR is 190. I doubt I could get that high, though. I'd struggle to get it into the 180's. I used to regularly get mid-170's while sprinting and I can do that on the rowing ergo provided I do a substantial warmup and go hell for leather in the intervals.

The VO2 Max is awesome. Mine is 51, but that's a Polar HRM estimate and I haven't updated it for a while. I remember when it was 50 it took a lot of work before it told me I was 51. You have to lie down and get a stable HR then the Polar measures your HR over about 5 min. The range of HR and the speed at which it changes determines the VO2 Max. But 62.3 is great. Ironfist would get about 10 :D.

According to the exercise machine I use, I'm getting up around 193 hr at the peak of my interval sprint workouts. I dunno how accurate the measurement is, though.
