Auditions for "White Eyebrow and the Destruction of Shaolin" stage play.

This period piece involving martial arts takes place in 18th centaury China. The Shaolin Temples battle the Manchu during the Ching Dynasty, resulting in the demise of the Shaolin Temple.

All characters that are being auditioned for are open to any race, and just about any age. All applicants must be trained in martial arts (Chinese styles preferred) for a minimum of 2 years or very well traversed with their bodies. Both speaking/fight roles and fight crew roles (just fighting) are available. We're looking for actors that know martial arts, non-fighting actors for a few roles, and just martial artist for fight crew.

We are auditioning for 3 female speaking/fighting roles, 6 male speaking roles (1 doesn’t fight), and for fight crew (non-speaking); 7 men and 3 women.

The auditions will take place on Thursday the 8th of July at the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School. Its located at 453 W16th Street between 9th and 10th ave. Auditions start at 5pm and end at 8pm.

**For roles that speak and fight, come with headshot/resume, a contemporary and classical monologue, along with a 30 second - one-minute form/set/kata.
**For fight crew role, come with a one-minute to 3 minute form/set/kata.
**For one of the speaking-only roles, come with headshot/resume, and a contemporary and classical monologue.

Come to auditions with clothes appropriate to the movement, not the monologue. There will be a warm-up room provided.

Actors participating in this play will NOT be paid. They will, however, get in great shape if their not already from great martial art training, have the opportunity to join M.A.T.E. Inc. (Martial Art Theater Ensemble), connect with others in the business that are always working on new projects, gain great experience doing a play whose style is rarely seen, and possibly be seen by invited agents/casting directors.

Final words! This will be a great time in the making, and we're all very excited to get it up on its feet. We will be doing the show in a Thursday -Sunday run for 4 weeks starting Sept. 16 - Oct. 9th at the Looking Glass Theater on 57th street. If you don’t have headshots or resumes, it’s not as important as the monologue/form you perform for us. You can send your headshot/resume to us, and we can confirm a spot in the auditioning time slot.
Email at Whiteeyebrowplay@yahoo.com

See you there!

Wushu is a government sponsoring program.

It is easier to get job in public shools and film industry.

TMCA, you are on your own.

The other one is San Da.

Wushu is taught as in physical education or PE classes.

:D

...they've all expired anyway and I figured it might make for a more interesting thread. Some of the more distinct ones, like SF Casting Call: MARVEL UNIVERSE LIVE! (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?68121-SF-Casting-Call-MARVEL-UNIVERSE-LIVE!), I left alone (although I might merge those at some later date.

FKA twigs needs stunt artists for a mysterious martial arts project (https://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/46239/1/fka-twigs-needs-stunt-artists-for-mysterious-martial-arts-project-magdalene)

In anticipation of her highly-anticipated second album, FKA twigs has hinted at an upcoming martial arts-themed project through a cryptic post on Twitter.

The singer tweeted that she’s looking for four POC men trained in wushu, a form of contemporary Chinese martial arts, and stunt artistry “for a very exciting project starting now”. Suitable applicants have been urged to send in a head shot, along with a video displaying their martial arts skills for the mysterious London-based project. The announcement comes six weeks after the artist posted a video of herself practising the martial art on Instagram.

twigs’ forthcoming album MAGDALENE drops on October 25, though two tracks, “Cellophane” and “holy terrain”, have already been released. Both singles are accompanied by performance-heavy music videos, which show off the singer’s impressive moves. Considering she spent a year learning to pole dance for her Andrew Thomas Huang-directed video for “Cellophane”, who’s to say martial arts won’t feature as part of her latest venture.

MAGDALENE, co-produced by twigs and Nicolas Jaar, is the singer’s second album, and follows her return to music five years after the release of her debut record, LP1.

If you’re up for doing some martial arts with twigs (who isn’t TBH?), find out how to apply to her mysterious casting call below.
