Reflecting back on the last 200 plus years, it's been a good run for the experiment in democracy.

Happy Independence Day.

Happy US-Day.

(Or, I guess, Separation Day for those still in the Commonwealth... :)

Some don't realize what a big chore it is maintaining our northern border. :D

Normally I would write a polemic for the 4th of July, but I was enjoying the blessed peace and solitude after many weeks of stressful work deadlines that I conveniently forget our beloved forum until now. =)

And what is democracy without freedom?

"Freedom is a fragile thing and it is never more than one generation from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again (Ronald Reagan, Quotable Reagan, edited by Steve Eubanks, 2001, p. 25)."

Cheers,
