stubbers -- the forum was broken this morning, so maybe that had something to do with it. i think design sifu is letting his new-found authority go to his head. ;)

then again, file of the old logo (it had some happy blue trim to it) may have exploded and ds just had to go searching for the next best thing.

I like it. Cleaner, more readable, better suited to monotone reproduction.

Not quite. The new one has a skinnier font on the bottom tier, allowing for the ".com" to be added, and also gets rid of the cheesy 3d shadow effect. Plus, all colors are made flat and simple instead of the eye-straining faux-silk shimmer effect on the blue-green.

That old gold and er... jade logo has been around since 2000... it's been Wayyyyyy past time we freshened it up. So we did it to coinside with the minor face lift on KFM proper.

This however didn't have much to do with the glitches we've been suffering. Most of our design is done somewhat by commitee. While I did design this logo myself, it's rare such designs make it to public viewing with-out a variety of changes requested by several parties. You should see the process by which we develop our magazine covers.

Those of you who have our got qi (http://www.martialartsmart.net/tshirgotqi99.html) or Got game (http://store.martialartsmart.net/992003.html) t-shirts will know that we've been using variations on this design for some time, though.

lol @ DS who is slave to the design by commitee which anyway you slice it is a crappy idea with non creative types throwing in their crappy ideas of what they think might be neat colours.

You poor poor dude. I feel sorry for you...I mean, why hire a designer if your not gonna let him have some creative license to give you an image that is consistent and manageable.

Now I know why your cover concepts and look and feel changes all the time.

Not dissing your crew DS, just saying that this is a peeve of mine. I had to work in a group before building e-learning materials and the commitee for look and feel was always a freaking circus and almost always affected the look and feel in a negative way.

To me it's a meditation on detachment from what one creates. Beside I can always go home and paint...

That is where one artists starts a file and passes it on to another and then another and so on until you have an entirely different piece of art.

Only thing is, you know going in that anything can happen. lol
