My gym just told me they're not going to get one after telling me "we're working on it" for the past 3 months.

Build a stand and hang it outside. A heavy bag shaking the walls/roof of your apartment is a quick way to get evicted.

I would definitely say it's a bad idea. Those things are noisy. If you don't bring the roof down you'll most likely be evicted. I have one on my back yard and don't go on it for long because of the noise.

Whatever you do, think about dumping the gym too. Get your own gear or something. I dumped mine when they closed for two weeks without telling any of the members. They billed me monthly dues for a couple of months after and sent me a bunch of patronizing letters about sticking to my workouts. I hate gyms.
