I am preparing an assignment on Qigong and thought I could use the internet to gain some information on it. Obviously what I got was lots of people trying to sell me their online Qigong products.

What I need is links to sites that have pictures of sequences of movements...preferably each particular "exercise" broken down into simple instructive pictures.

Can anyone please help me?

I have also posted on the Qigong forum but I thought I might get a quicker response on this forum.

Thanks!

www.emptyflower.com might be a good place to start.

First couple lessons of this (http://www.sandowplus.co.uk/Competition/Burns/lessons/lesson01.htm) might help also.

I will post some other links later.

Unfortunately it will be hard to find much with out purchasing a book/dvd/other media.

Go to your local library and see what they have on it. I have a few books by Dr yang jwing ming and they are pretty insightful.

It says you do wing chun, ask your sifu about the qigong benefits in the first set of SLT. There is some wisdom in the form that can give you insight on qigong.

couple of simple bits.

qi gong (chi kung) transliterates as "Breath (qi) Work (gong).

It focuses on -feeling- the entirety of the human mechanism through sensing and eventual regulation of breath and blood flow throughout the body.

It is in most manifestations an esoteric practice and there are many natural manifestations of its practice in people of all walks of life everywhere.

Things such as stretching when you get up, rubbing the face when tired etc are all natural things we do. These things are considered in many circles as natural gongs.

There are categories of regimented practice such as medical qigong which works towards engaging and empowering the natural restorative and healing abilities of the body, Martial gongs which work towards readying the body for martial endeavour, Buddhist gongs, taoist gongs, and more.

In some ways it falls into line with the Indian practices of prana vedic (also breath (prana) veda (knowledge) ) work.

There are also many exercises found within qigong of CHinese traditions that are found in yoga and as well just knowledge of wellness for the body itself.

If you look at the wrestling manual as provided in the link above, the exercises illustrated in its pages reflect focusing on the health of the spine and regulation of the breath to improve overall wellness and increase internal strength.

It's roots as structured practice date far back into antiquity.

Good luck with your paper.
