just in case santa needs a little help on picking gifts out for us this year, let's all list the gear and goodies (at least SOME of your list has to be training-related) that we would love to see under the tree come december 25. if you don't dig the Christmas-ness, pick another holiday, but still share your wish list. and give links when possible.

for me, it's a 52-lb. kettlebell and a pullup bar, plus a CPT instruction book from NSCA. oh yeah, and demon stone for me xbox.

Well . . .

The CPT course via NSCA (I have one of the older books, but I want certification through them in addition to the ISSA)

Certification through Charles Poliquin's deal.

An unlimited gas card

About 1,000lbs of chocolate protein through Optimum Nutrition

1,000 pounds of protein will pretty much take care of that unlimited gas card. :D

Indeed. I need some fuel, though.

A leather foam-lined 5' heavy bag and a Balasz stand to hang it on.
A year's worth of weekly private lessons at my kwoon.
Some Onitsuka Tigers in all black or black with red stripes.
Some Asics Gables for lifting and training.
A year's worth of protein would be nice too.
A new titanium shoulder. Titanium-lined shins and forearms wouldn't go astray while they're at it.

Why Balasz? Their s.hit is SO expensive. Here's a comparison chart I just made up:

Freestanding heavy bag stand

Normal company: US$150-250
Balasz: US$1,000

Ceiling mounted heavy bag holder:

Normal company: US$10-20
Balasz: US$150

I say to Balasz, wtf, mate?

Balasz? It was a wishlist wasn't it? So I don't care how much it costs :D. When I eventually do get a heavy bag I'll probably weld up a free stand for it myself. The bag I want costs AUD$500ish anyway so it'll be a while.

A Korg Triton extreme.
Thats all I want... But its too expensive right now. :(

I have pretty much all the equipment I need for now... But a 150 lb banana bag and a teardrop bag wouldnt hurt... Or some iron mind products... :)

Steak Marinade for Rib Eye

1 can Guinness
1/2 of 1 Guiness can of Olive Oil
All the Garlic you can stand
Worcestershire Sauce
Pepper
Salt

don't just coat the meat, let the meat swim for 24 hours.

if you are in a rush, add a quarter cup of whiskey to the mix and let is soak for at least an hour but 2-3 is better.

that, my friends, makes for some good eating.

I'll be ****ed if I'll waste a good can of Guiness on a hunk of dead cow.

Mmmm, stout.

Oso

well, if you don't eat cow, then it would be a waste of a Guiness.

otherwise, yummutha****innee.

if you drink porter then you might try Sweetwater Exodus Porter.
Best porter in these parts by far.

Actually, I don't eat meat or drink. But I SO miss a pint o' heavy! Very sad.

By the way, here's my wish list.

2. A polish for my iai-to

3. A nice squat rack and bench

4. This Beautiful wall-mounted makiwara from Bujin: http://www.bujindesign.com/training_aids.html#aids_makiwara

Ford Prefect's book (whenever teh ******* gets published)

The New HIT (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1594860009/104-5201791-8315102)

AJ Advincula's Isshinryu Videos

Wow! That new HIT book looks great! I've read some of Darden's other stuff and really like what he's got to say. I'd couple anything by Darden with Mentzer's "High Intensity Training: The Mike Mentzer Way", since I find Mentzer's section on training frequency to be absolutely essential to anyone who trains with a HIT protocol.

Anyway, good call Vash.

Vash

Dang straight. I really like how the HIT training protocol just fits in all nice and comfy with my varying karate training cycles. I wouldn't make it the backbone of my weight training, but it is a very important tool in my box.

What bag do you want? How much is that in US dollars?

Toby
10-10-2004, 08:24 PM
I want either this one (http://www.jimbradley.com.au/asp/product.asp?PRODUCT_ID=26) or this one (http://www.jimbradley.com.au/asp/product.asp?PRODUCT_ID=27) in the longest length respectively. I've got their speedball and floor/ceiling (double end in Americanese) bag. Super nice leather and quality workmanship. I do 1000 punches on each each day and 2000 on each on weekends. That's for conditioning. I also mess around with broken rhythm combos etc on weekends. I don't wear gloves and they've calloused my hands, but no broken skin. So I'd be pretty happy with their heavy bag I imagine.

AUD$500 == US$366.618 today. I use xe.com (http://www.xe.com/ucc/).

Well, I hate to say it, but life is moving a little too fast, so I will be leaving KFM for a while. If I'm back after Christmas, I'll let you know if I got what I'm asking for: (1) a few kg of muscle mass and (2) sKILLZ.

Be excellent to each other.
