southern mantis question

I'm not asking wich is better northern or southern mantis. My question is WHY do northern mantis practiceners say southern praying mantis doesn't resemble a mantis? I'm asking because I read this comment in a thread.

Usually the people that say that have never actualy seen southern mantis. I have; I think it does resemble the mantis myself. Differently from the northern look,...but still resembles the mantis.

I agree with Bei.

It may look a little more mantis like than the northern. I have hours of videos of mantis kills and the southern does seem to resemble the movements closer.

You just have to remember that northern has the footwork of monkey along with the 17 othere styles combined with the mantis which gives the northern praying mantis a much bigger range of movement and techniuqes.

Northern mantis is not just about the bug itself.


I also think that the southern mantis very similar to the southern white crane and southern dragon style.
