I need to find myself a spear, but most of the spears I see are really poor quality. They look like they're folded from tin foil and the tassels look like a piece of someone's halloween costume.

This one looks ok though. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it any good and worth the money? Also I would like know where to get one in Europe for a fair price.

premier,

You may want to check out these assegai from cold steel. It can be nice to have something a little different. These spears actually look better. You can always have them chrome plated. These weigh 12.8 ounces and don't look like they are meant to tickle:

Also check the closeouts. They have a smaller version of these heads at a bargain price. They don't mention the dimensions of these nor weight.

I should buy a few myself. They look that good!

I hope I didn't add to your confusion.

Not bad and the closeout price is right. My concern is however that these spears are designed for throwing, which is not the case with traditional chinese spears. And it would be nice to have the tassel ready :)

honestly, what is with you guys? MAM has plenty of choices at good prices on that page.

I mean, it's not like you are going to actually use a spear these days? lol I can jst see some of you running through the forest occaisionally stopping to do a cool pose while you look for your prey.

the spear head is not so important as the shaft in modern kungfu practice. If you want a high qual spear head, then any combat steel properly weighted head will do.

most are just chrome thingys that are more than good enough for demonstration and practice purposes.

Sure, and MAM also charges ridiculously for international shipping. So screw MAM.

What's wrong with wanting to practise the forms with weapons that they're ment to be practised with? Flimsy wooshoo crap makes me sick and they tend to break too.

premier,

If anything those assegai spearheads are designed for use. The wushu spears are just for looks. If you are going to get the assegai that is reduced for clearance ask about the size of the spearhead first.
