By the way, do you believe in self-fulfilling prophesy? Like, people who practice martial arts (especially MMA) mostly for the sake of combat/fighting TEND to get into more fights or situations where they have to defend themselves vs. people who don't necessarily practice for those means exclusively?

Sure. If you are always in the "martial mindset" then you will always find a "martial situation" in which to use your skills.

But contrary to popular belief kung fu is not just about fighting.

It is about developing the civil and spiritual sides of yourself as well.

Some fraudulent "martial arts teachers" focus only on the civil and spiritual development as an excuse for lack of martial arts skills.

You should still be able to effectively demonstrate your art.

However, the other components are essential to a "complete" martial artist as well as a "complete" person.

In my opinion that is what makes Chinese kung fu special is that it seeks to build a whole person and not just a mindless soldier.
