Dave Pickens is a skilled player and good coach. Funny guy too.

just picked it up, all in all a decent issue for IKF. However, I didn't realize it was december's ish as I just snagged it off the shelf assuming it was the issue with blacktoaist in it...

looked good to me...

is IKF trying to turn around and actually have some good content?

1) It's a good article

2) he's a good guy

3) don't rag on IKF, like most magazines, it is only as good as those submitting to it....

The obit on my teacher was cut down a little, but I was still glad they gave him his final nod....

I was looking for the BT article too - the nov issues had already been sold/removed. I read it when I first saw it and was going back to buy it.

magazines are funny, I was the mag coordinator at a Waldenbooks for three years. I was amazed when I first assumed that responsibility at how early some issues came out.

lkfmdc: yea, it said 'continued on page {something} and I was expexting more. Did you submit the piece? I liked the pic showing an older martial artist doing his thing. Definitely a sad time in traditional cma. There have been a lot of what seems like the last real generation of old chinese teachers who are passing on.

I thought the BT article was disappointing. You'd figure with a guy as skilled and controversial as Novell he'd get more pages. He's seems like an interesting guy but the article was flat. Hey Gene, how about someone at KFO grab BT and some of his crew and get their story. If you do I'll buy a pair of those ugly black Chinese sneakers.

I wrote the piece on my sifu, Chan Tai San, I am happy they printed it, even if it was shortened ....

My sifu was something, we were afraid of him well into his late 60's...
