Sorry this was so last minute everyone. We only found out about it recently - during the Zhengzhou trip (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=30335). We really need more time to gather donations, so I hope that you'll all help, if not by donating, by at least spreading the word. We've updated our Tiger Claw Foundation site (http://www.tigerclawfoundation.org/) for the occasion, and of course, I published our recent meeting with Suxi on the ezine (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=555).

BTW, an area nearby Zhengzhou went under martial law due to riots (http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=6674924).

We are only $125 away from donating $1000 to Shaolin Grandmaster Venerable Shi Suxi's 80th birthday celebration. Can you help? Do you know anyone who can? If so, please help. Our donation drive closes next Monday (only 4 days away!) so now is the time to act! Click to our Tiger Claw Foundation (http://www.tigerclawfoundation.org/) website for more details! Thank you! amitoufo

Gene, what's the latest the fundraiser is up to now? Did it hit the $1000 mark yet?

The Tiger Claw Foundation's account is managed by the TN office of our parent company Tiger Claw (http://www.tigerclaw.com). I got a report yesterday on our progress. I'll get another report as soon as the person in charge of the accounts turns on their IM today, and I'll post it here.

We're only $75 dollars away from $1000. Please help out if you can! To invoke a free clinic (http://www.rockmed.org) motto here on the forum, "Take what you need, need what you take, and GIVE WHAT YOU CAN" :)

I just received a nice call from Shi Xing Hao of the Shaolin Kung Fu Academy in Houston, TX (http://www.houstonshaolin.com/) about the fundraiser. We closed the fundraiser last night with a total of $1505 raised. We've contacted Suxi's disciples and the money is being transfered now. I'll have an update for the e-zine article (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=555) (got to rewrite the ending) as well as our non-profit site, the Tiger Claw Foundation (http://www.tigerclawfoundation.org), hopefully by the end of the week. Thank you all for your support on this project. It came together really fast, but through the generosity of Shaolin followers, it was quite successful.

Gene,

Sorry for the last minute donation. We hustled to get a good donation amount for a great cause. True Buddha Temple (A nearby buddhist temple here in Houston's "China-town"). was very kind and made a unexpected donation along with our school (Shi Xing Hao's Shaolin Kung Fu Academy). I sent you a PM regarding the details. Happy Birthday Shi Suxi from all of your extended Shaolin brothers in Houston !!! ;)

There's a lot of 'thank you's' going around. When I spoke to Xinghao, he was saying 'thank you' for bringing attention to GM Suxi, and I was saying 'thank you' for the donation, which made our fundraiser a big success. I didn't think we would to this well with such short notice and such a short period to generate funds. But it all worked out in the end. Thank YOU!!!

We at Shaolin Kung Fu Academy wish to extend our thanks you to you and your crew for reminding us of this event. I am sure with a greater time period the Shaolin Spirit would have shined much brighter from the USA.
The True Buddha Temple in Houston is a very compassionate Temple, and by just having tea with the Master and him overhearing about the fundraiser he handed us a Donation of $500. This moved us greatly. He also invited the Monks to visit his Temple on the 2002 tour. It was very pleasant. Shi Xing Hao also moved fast to collect and organize the donations, He also has a BIG heart. That is why I follow him.

Thank you KFM. And all that donated or ever said a prayer.

Songshan gave me a blow-by-blow of your efforts in Houston. Truly wonderful! Does the True Buddha Temple have a website? I did a search but only came up with a links page.

Thank you Gene
But to be honest, SongShan told me of this event. Therefore, he is the Hero. We follow our hearts, in our eyes as in yours, to help a Grand master from Shaolin or from any Temple is an honor. We have to honor the masters of the past, for they have preserved and passed on what we have today, to prepare us for the future. When one truly understands what Shaolin is, what they did for the people, M.As. and Buddhism etc. Shaolin is a gift that no money can buy, and its history only to be stored in the best of places, our hearts, it will always be in mine

We always credit the website when we can. That's the great thing about the net. :)

...you'll find an updated version of the Suxi fundraiser article (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=561) on our e-zine now. I originally wrote it as a way to bring publicity to our fund drive. Now that it's done, I've changed the ending to say how it all went. And acknowledged our generous supporters, of course. Thanks Lu Zhi Shen and Songshan - you really came through for the Shaolin forum here and for Venerable Shi Suxi!
