About the only place you're gonna find in the Chi is Combat-Do over in Cicero.

Hmm, I know there used to be Kou Shou here at one time. I used to go spectate there in years gone by. No Sanda, San Shou though?

Is Combat Do into Chinese venues?

Doesn't Joe Goytia ofer up free-fighters? He's down by Midway.

There used to be fairly regular kickboxing using San Shou rules at St. Andrews gym... don't know if that still happens now that Tom Letuli is dead. Call Degerberg's, they might know.

I hear Dr. Wu isn't teaching anymore....

If you ever want to make a trip to Madison, WI we do Kuoshu style fighting, only 2 1/2 hrs away from Chitown - look us up if interested.

Combat Do does some San Shou. I think Shonie Carter fights out of Combat-Do. If you want to see fights around here Bro, you really need to check out the local MMA scene. In fact, my coach (http://www.sherdog.com/images/pictures/2780.jpg) is fighting in the IronHeart on Nov 20 in Hammond.

Actually, finding MMA venues is easy. I'm looking for Chinese martial arts venues. Kou Shou, San Shou Push hands etc...

I used to enjoy going to the Kou Shou from time to time, but I can't seem to find it anymore, anywhere.

Thanks for the link btw

John Tsai was a Lei Tai guy in Chicago MANY years ago, then he did the world's funniest infomercial for a "10 animal" self defense course

:D

I did some time under Tsai in my early days. His son e-mialed me a week ago or so infact. If I remeber right though, when I was there they were into the Midwest Kickboxing circut.

I fought a guy under those rules once, got my ass kicked, but when I was free to do take downs, and Locks and other stuff he was mine. I fought a couple at Saviano's White Tiger Kempo under those rules too. Did good against the intermediate, but the one ready to test for Black Belt kicked my ass bad. Took a couple of weeks before all the bruising went down. That was all before I hurt my back and became all whimpy and stuff though. Today I'd just run like a little girl

Combat-do is the place. Bob Schirmer is a great instructor and fighter and they train everything. You name the combat sport, and they are interested in competing in it.

As mentioned, Shonie Carter trains here.
