Kama on Steve Harvey's Big Time

Last night (episode 208 (http://www.thewb.com/Shows/Episode/0,8201,||2101,00.html) according to the website) some guys doing Kamas won the popularity portion of the show. It was an odd act, sort of like Chippendales doing stunt kama. They were up against some balck country line/hip hop dancers and a set of east European blonde triplet violinists. I thought the violinists should have won.

Also caught a martial arts segment on Sagwa (http://pbskids.org/sagwa/) which showed Tai Chi, Karate, and Capoeira. It was a very odd day of TV, since both programs I caught just by just flipping on the tube...

Here's a link to episode 207 (http://www.thewb.com/Shows/Episode/0,8201,||2059,00.html) with a pic of the triplets. I really wasn't that into the kama team - they had some odd name. I think they were second time winners, which confuses me since the triplets were obviously on the previous episode. Note that this is the first time I've ever watched that show, so I'm not sure how the talent contest portion works exactly.

Didn't see that episode, but did happen to catch some guys showing off their "iron" skills, although not one of them called it that. They actually had SH kick one of the guys in the groin! And then they had him full on punch the other guy in the solar plexus.
Although neither of them flinched, I had a hard time figuring out exactly what style of MA they were touting.

those triplets were hot. if they did their act naked. im sure they would have won the whole thing.

I would have voted for them even if they weren't naked.

(saw the commercial only....sad)

too true...

if people just got out of their comfort zone for just alil while they'd be better for it.

i think thats the point of alot of life lessons.

but dude! its a rappin reggae rabbi.... :D

he even had his own band and his cd is out now. gotta go cop it to support that man. the dream mustn't die! lol

id rather see him on mtv than 99...no no....100% of artists on now. why dont they take the extra step and call themselves the shamelessly exploiting half naked teenagers who probably should spend less time tryin to be on tv and more time in skool since half of them can't find america on a map making our nation pretty much screwed...um.....television.....

and all the music we do actually play in between pointless shows further brainwashing kids is mainstream garbage since we dont actually have the ballz to be about the music.

end rant~

That was some hot reggae - here's his site (http://www.hasidicreggae.com/). Now if he only had blonde triplets as back up singers and if they all used kamas....

Martial arts are a popular activity for children throughout the Tri-Valley.

For 6-year-old Calleigh Tsay, kung fu is a passion that runs in the family and something she looks forward to every week.

And this weekend, the Valley View Elementary kindergartner's passion is set to be on display on national television.

"Exciting," the Pleasanton girl said of her experience last summer taping a segment for NBC's "Little Big Shots," which is set to air for the first time this Sunday at 8 p.m. "I kicked over (Steve Harvey's) hand ... I got to kick through a board."

Calleigh will be among a handful of charismatic youngsters demonstrating their various talents on the latest episode of the kids' talent show hosted by comedian Harvey. Her appearance will come almost a month after 6-year-old Lucy Szela represented Pleasanton on the show's second-season premiere, showing off her Abraham Lincoln knowledge and fandom.

Calleigh was 5 when she filmed her segment in the "Little Big Shots" studio in Burbank last August. She said she wasn't nervous at all performing onstage in front of a studio audience that also included her parents, four siblings, grandparents and other family members.

After sitting down on the couch for an interview with Harvey, Calleigh demonstrated some forms and moves for the audience, and even tried to teach Harvey a thing or two in the art of kung fu.

And it sounds like Calleigh threw some comedic punches as well, like many of the young kids who appear on "Little Big Shots."

"I told him, 'Why don't you have no hair?'" she remembered -- a comment that drew a trademark surprised look from Harvey and laughter from the studio audience. "And I think I asked him why he has a big nose."

"It's an exciting experience," her father, James Tsay, said looking ahead to her episode airing Sunday night.

Calleigh has been studying kung fu for almost two years, going to practice twice a week. Her brothers and sisters also train in kung fu.

It was her teacher from Kungfu Dragon USA in Pleasanton who sent in video clips of several students to "Little Big Shots" producers, and they picked Calleigh out of the group, James Tsay recalled.

Calleigh said she has fun practicing kung fu and likes how it challenges her. "It's good to defend yourself ... and they have different levels."

And she plans to continue her kung fu training throughout her childhood. "I want to be the very best," she said.

Good for Kungfu Dragon USA! They are great supporters of the Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championships (http://www.kungfumagazine.com/info/tournament/KFTC25.html). Here is one of their demos (maybe Calleigh is in it somewhere...)
