I can't use paint right now to circle the house but on the darker street on the left, we're about 4 houses up from the cross street on the right side.

the red dot should be right in the middle of downtown asheville where we hold all of our street festivals and music events.

the funny looking areas w/ x's on them are parklike areas.

that whole area, about the size of 5 or 6 football fields, gets closed down and the beer vendors go in.

And here I am in the midst of an intense, full-contact sparring session with my training partner. (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/images/rough_day.jpg)

I live by the black object near the bottom of the photo. That black blob is Yosemite lake, connected to Smith's canal in American Legion Park. The complex just left of center along the top is The University of the Pacific.

that's a funky looking lake.

what's the story behind it?

ok, here's one.

back in the day when I did hung gar (82-89) we trained almost totally outside.

the oval in the picture is an old 1/2 mile dirt NASCAR track from the late 60's/early 70's. My high school also played football there till 73.

it was only partially grown over then and in the northern end was a pine grove w/ a clearing in the middle of it where we would train.

sounds hokey, but true.

that's the Eno River running near it, 2nd oldest river in the US behind the New.

Its a man made lake that was more of a draining basin when there was a flooding problem way back when. Most of the houses in my neighborhood were built in the 20's. The canal connects to the Stockton deep water chanel which servives the Port of Stockton. The port is cool because Stockton is about 100 miles inland from San Francisco Bay.

Edit: SF is on the left. Dot is Port of Stockton.

maps are cool.

back in HS me and a buddy ended up w/ a 1918 topo of our town and used it and a newer map to go find old houses and stuff.

Interestingly (or oddly) enough, I've been asked about where I live often enough to have posted it on one of my sites-

I live within the yellow outline (http://www.geocities.com/fongsaiyukii/homeaerial.JPG)

It's too hard to do if you can't enter a zip code or street.
