Nicked this from another site.... can't remember where. Maybe Dragondoor or IronGarm. Anyway, for all the "weightlifting makes you stiff and slow and messes up your kung fu" whiners, check this out! ;)

*coughsidepresscough*

You know, I've never heard of a classical martial arts guy that didn't have some great physical prowess.

That's what Vash was talking about. It could be a side press, bent press, or wind mill. You end up in a similar position in all of those lifts.

Guarantee old kung fu guys lifted weights. They just didn't have "weights" so they used bricks, stones, buckets of water, horse riding, jars, these stone locks, etc.

cool.

still waiting for IF to 'lecture' me on the other thread about wanting to keep the guan looking 'chinese' :) I just think that the same exercises can be done w/ traditional tools.

I think Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming put out a book on traditional exercises. Err, wait no, I'm thinking of his Qin Na book. Well at any rate someone has a book out about traditional exercises - I've seen it once
