It's difficult to decipher/navigate the info because it seems to lack consistency but I've made an attempt. The charges are pretty clear but the sentence or declaration of guilt/innocence is not so clear. Wherever it indicated an incarceration length I've written 'Jail' (athough it may be a suspended sentence -- if at all??). If these charges were dismissed then he has a right to remove them from the database. This info is not a "rap sheet", but court appearances. They may be grouped; for instance, maybe he went in once on an arrest charge and then went in again at a later date (on the same charge) to have it dismissed/ or convicted. Any Hawaiian resident can have the actual criminal record pulled by the HAWAII CRIMINAL JUSTICE DATA CENTER http://www.state.hi.us/hcjdc/ for a fee, but it can't be done online.

Supposedly the kid who got beat up is bi-polar and wasn't on his medicine. But then other people said those were just rumors. This story is kinda interesting, tho. That's why I posted that link.

'Edward Rothman, who also is known as "Fast Eddie," was charged yesterday with first- degree burglary, kidnapping and extortion, police said.

He is being held on $300,000 bail.

Rothman and two of his friends barged into a Sunset Beach home Tuesday night and allegedly threatened the resident and his family with "death" if they didn't turn over their truck, police said.

The suspect and his group then beat up the resident, police said.

Three of the resident's friends also were led outside and told not to interfere with the beating, according to a police report.

In 1987, Rothman was indicted in connection with running a large North Shore-based extortion and cocaine-distribution ring.

Prosecutors at that time said Rothman "held the North Shore in a state of feudalism" for years.

Rothman headed a group then called Hui O He'e Nalu, more commonly referred to as the "Black Trunks," which prosecutors alleged was engaged in extorting surf-meet promoters and film directors on the North Shore.

Rothman was acquitted of the charges after a jury trial.'

The charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. The prosecuters had difficulty locating witnesses, including the alleged victim, who left Hawaii.

'Rothman had been charged in the late 1980s as a drug dealer and had been described by city prosecutors as a leader in a "reign of terror" on the North Shore.'

Hui is short fort "Wave riding club" in Hawaiin or something like that. It's unoficial, it's the hardcore lot. Like I consider certain people "Hui" in martial arts. Its evolved in meaning.

Hey Ironfist, cool website. I did a search before for kitesurfing websites and never saw that one. Do you kiteboard? I heard its big in the UK. Ive had a trainer-kite for a while and thats a sport that i'm getting into, trying to learn all i can about it. its intense!
