I only saw the clip on the jab. Why is it when you demonstrate a technique, the attacker doesn't attack at his fighting range? But if he did attack you at that range why didn't the other guy close the distance, so as to keep the upper hand. The technique that was shown, gave the jabber another chance!!!
That's only my opinion though!!!
What do you think?

I've come to the conclusion that Wing Cun fighters should never attempt a roundhouse kick. :D

I don't think anything of it at all. Just wanted to get some other opinions.

Please keep in mind that what I am saying is only what I believe to be wrong with what I see. I am open to discussion, but there is usually more than one response to anything presented, so what I write is only one possible answer. I will refer to the main practitioner in these series as Mr. Grey. That said, here goes:

1. Jab Cross -- Why isn't Mr. Grey using his left hand? Given that his was his choice of responses, I would have followed up with a pak sao to Mr. Black's elbow, which would have further turned him away, and proceeded to pound the back of his head and body. Instead, he does a couple of yan chuns to the face, which may have been effective, but still gives Mr. Black the opportunity to have responded.

--

2. Round House -- He moves into the attacker without dealing with the roundhouse. If that roundhouse were executed properly, Mr. Grey would be on his face, because his stance is so wide and his feet are spread out at such an obtuse angle. Why not use a 'sieung gan' against the leg, then move in? It also appears that he is throwing a backhand with his left hand: why is his elbow so high and why is his upper torso turned at a 90 degree angle to the attacker in this situation?

Frame three: Again, his stance is spread out and most of his weight is now on his front leg. He appears to be in a bow and arrow stance. His right fist is in a great position, but personally, I would have done a lap sao with the first punch to the kicker's bong, and gone into a 'fak, fak, pai jarn, man ging sao' or some other combo.

--

3. Straight Punch -- Why kuen sao?! I would have done either a 'tan da' on the inside of that first punch or a 'hoi mun choi' on the outside, leading to 'gan da'. I think the initial response is the only main problem with this set aside, again, from the fact that Mr. Grey's stance is still spread wide. Is this some sort of JDK/WC meld?

--

4. Cross Punch -- I can't even tell what that first response is. I would have done a a 'tan da' with my tan arm being the right hand, and punching hand left against his face. Mr. Grey's footwork is simply wrong. When he moves in to finish Mr. Black off, why does his leading foot move to the outside? Also, look how wide open the side of Mr. Black's body is.

Overall, Mr. Grey's stancework is pretty bad, his choice of responses aren't very efficient, and he tends to twist his body and drop his head a lot. I personally don't think much of this. I am not going to talk about the chi sao. Sorry Mr Grey is someone on the forum... I hope I have not offended anyone.
