I thought maybe this thread was about the adulterous lesbian sex scene on tonight's episode of "The Wire."

You know I've never actually had eggnog before. Is there alcohol in it? What does it taste like? Some of my friends like it. Why do they only drink it at Christmas time?

You can put whiskey or amber rum in Egg Nog and it tastes better than without the booze.

It's only available at Christmas to prevent every person with a sweet tooth of dying of clogged arteries in mid-June when decaying bodies begin to smell faster. ;)

LOL @ SimonM

IF, it's basically milk and eggs w/ cinnamon, nutmeg and maybe cloves in it...all blended up of course. I've never made it from scratch though my grandpa did....something to resurrect this year, maybe.

I've tried it w/ rum and brandy but prefer it w/ whiskey.

Beam 7 Year or smoother. A rough whiskey doesn't taste so good in it even though the milk smooths it out.

also, never something to abuse...like white russians and tequila...puking up milk and eggs and liquor would be hella bad.

but, a shot of whisky in a pint glass of eggnog at the end of a cold day is dam close to perfection.

*stupid censoring script*

if we can say ass we should be able to say ****.

Boiled custard and single barrel Jack... egg nog is a northern thing.

I don't like it either. I think eggs kinda suck in general too.
Have a Vodka and some milk or something.

Egg Nog

12 eggs
1/2 gallon Half-N-Half
2 cups sugar
1 tbl vanilla
1 tsp Cinamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp allspice

whip eggs, sugar vanilla and spices in a blender, till they start to stiffen (NO JOKES PLEASE!) then fold in Hale-N-Half. Chill then serve.

here's a liquor blend that goes in your store bought eggnog.

KENTUCKY EGGNOG SPIKE

2 cups bourbon
1 cup dark rum
1 cup brandy
1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise
1 whole nutmeg
2 large cinnamon sticks
7 whole cloves

Pour bourbon, rum and brandy into 1-quart bottle. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean into bourbon mixture; add pod to bottle. Crack whole nutmeg into 4 or 5 pieces. Add nutmeg pieces, cinnamon sticks and cloves to mixture. Cork bottle tightly. Let stand in cool, dark place for 1 week. (Can be prepared 3 months ahead.)

Egg Nog is a little too close to jizz. I'll pass.

I tend to eat my eggs a bit on the runny side and have never gotten anything from it, so I guess my egg suplier is a safe one.

And why are you suprized about something like Egg Nog having eggs in it?!?!?!

does anyone actually know anyone else who definitely caught salmonella form eggs or chicken? I'm not doubting it can happen, but I don't know ANYONE who has ever had a problem with it, although I hear this oft repeated warning all the time.

I've never heard of it either. quite a few cases of ecoli in commercial beef but never salmonella.
