Technical history finding will let one to be able to find out what kind of Conditioning and the process of the conditioning design for that particular style. and it is very critical because without knowing that particular conditioning. One can have great general conditioning but will not be able to activate or optimize the style. Such as, if one take away the Inch Jing Join Power of the White Crane Weng Chun's or its white Crane decendent style. The style's will not be as effective as it was designed.

IMHHHO
Wing Chun if using the Southern Matis/Hakka style conditioning, Then Wing Chun will lost/become not effective in that Reeling/binding characteristics.
Wing Chun if using the Shao Lin TaiZhu style of conditioning, Then Wing Chun will lost /become not effective in that Reeling/binding characteristics.
Wing Chun if using the Boxing conditioning, Then
Wing Chun will lost/become not effective in that Reeling/binding characteristics.

Thus, that is the significant of technical history and finding out what, how, why.... the enginee can be started.

Thank you hendrik! ;)

I don't disagree

but look at it this way for the hype about realing binding inch this or that
shock power
drop step and so on

were and when are the results? Against who? What quality?
Was it just one guy or are there proven methods that produce functional power and skill results or is just good for fixed demonstration?

If so why get lost in the fluff?

Again I state with no goal checks and balances anything is possible

why is asking for results such a sin?

I know people need to justify the time they spend on things makes them feel special

but if they have no functional testable skill then why bother

Let see a series of "get lucky" accidental events! :D

White CRane Weng Chun incident.
1, 1650 , invented with the inch jing join power.
2, White crane weng chun fighters join the anti-Qing battle supporting Taiwan.
2, 1850, Lee Man Mau and other white crane weng Chun fighters using it in battle field of Taiping and other uprising to beat the Qing.
3, 1920's White Crane's fighter Par Wang Xiang Zai , the creator of Yee Chuan, who was traveling within China to test his skill. and influence Wang on his art.
4, 1928, white crane fighter Pan win top place in all china martial art testing at Nanjing......
5....

Invented 1650 and 260 years later still be able to produce figher which Par one of the top fighter of China. and produce best result in the ALL China martial art test. That must be an accident of random process. :D

Yee Chuan incident.
1, created by Wang Xiang Zai in early 1900.
2, Wang went around China to test his skill.
3, Wang par with White Crane weng chun fighter.
4, Wang beat Japanese martial artist including an olympic partitioner (who later involve in Ali's fight with Japanese wrestle incident in the 1970's)
5, MAs Oyama, Father of Kyokushin, studying Yee Chuan.
6....

Kyokushin incident.
1, Created by Mas Oyama mid of 1900's.
2, Oyama champion of Japanese Karate
3, Oyama lead the team to fight the Thai Boxers
4, Kyokushin produce lots of worldwide fighters such as Andy Hug.
5, Kyokushin lead to K1.... in the 1990's.
6....

so, here we have 350 years of a series of lucky accidentally event! be it in the battle field among civil war or kong sau..:D:D

Since I am a bookworm without training. :D
With your first hand training experience with WCK, you sure can fill out for the WCK incident part on who test what for past 350 years. :D

Boy, I am glad I related to the mother white crane in Weng Chunn of fujian. or I am going to learn some Snaky Crane too :D so I can get Lucky too. who needs to train? just get lucky! :D:D

these are good stories

but what were the training methods , how skilled were the guys

as for the transfer over to K-1

how much was used , what aspect of the training directly influenced the results

were these just tough guys , you see it can not just be a individual or string of them it has to be a larger amount to dictate real results

how much is just hand me down hype

as for the ching qing ding what ever fighters

were they not using weapons , mass atttack , war is war and a singular style means nothing

any style from Karate to FMA can lay claim to battle field victory

this means nothing

so from what you say the only real proof would the carry over from master O to modern K-1 application

which is just kick boxing

ok i get it

thank you for your post

And with the coming of NHB...mixed martial art events...wherein it's not just about striking, kicking, and sweeping...but also includes standup grappling, takedowns, and ground-grappling - all of which could lead to submission holds - as well as certain footwork and boxing techniques...that WERE NOT USED in past centuries.

SO THE ENTIRE MARTIAL ART FIGHT GAME HAS CHANGED.

Hence the need to forget about what happened in past centuries...and even K-1 for that matter. (No real grappling going on there).

The past means little when the present and future hold such powerful new dynamics.

TIME TO MOVE ON...and forget about certain prejudices and insecurities...it's not about what someone "WANTS" to be true (ie. - 17th century...or even some 20th century oriental arts will always prevail)...

IT'S WHAT THE PRESENT FACTS TELL US THAT COUNTS.
