Here (http://www.weaponmasters.com/?ID=WEAPONS&ITEM=WM-5000).

If you click in the pic, it takes you to more pics (http://www.weaponmasters.com/?ID=WEAPONS&FDX=&FMAX=&SORT=&ITEM=WM-5000&LOCATION=PHOTOS&PHOTO_ID=15123).

It's the freaking claymore of katanas.

Hey, remember that guy in the Seven Samurai who had that huge sword? Is this like that?

This company seems to make weapons based on history, video games, and fantasy. I bet there's actually a market for that. Didn't somebody in a Final Fantasy game have this (http://www.weaponmasters.com/?ID=WEAPONS&ITEM=SHI001) sword?

lol (http://www.weaponmasters.com/images//products/WM/BC-006M.jpg)

i think its the one tidus uses in ffx, but i could be wrong.

by way of his avatar, which is total sweetness btw, im guessing xebby could confirm that.

Usually a katana wasn't 73 inches long. Once they hit a certain length they'd change names. Tanto, wakashi, katana, tachi, no dachi, etc.

I'm no video game expert but I believe that sword was used by sephiroth in FF7.

yeah whatever nerd.

anyway, i looked in my final fantasy 10 strategy guid and it's not the one tidus used. if i had to guess i'd say it was from 7 cause that seems to be everyone's favorite and i never got a chance to play any of the ones on ps1 cause i went stright from genisis to ps2.

actually, both of those swords were in final fantasy. the one with the wide blade was used my cloud in FFVII. The masamune was a sword you could find (was it in tiamat's castle?) In the original FF game. It was usable by both the ninja and the fighter. I think hopgar may be right too - sephorith may have had one.

they have gambit's cards on there...that site is great

Masamune was a real sword maker in Japan. Wasn't he the rival of Muramasa? One made "good" swords and one made "evil" swords, I thought. Maybe it's just a legend. I think Masamune was the good guy.

If you click on "read more reviews" for that sword, someone says this:

For some reason, if i practice near waterfalls, I feel some weird power "corsing" through the blade

Is that where people go to those conventions dressed as videoo game people?

I've seen TWO girls dressed as sailor moon that I'd bang like conga drums. The rest were too young/fat/00gly.

It is fabled that Masamune was a sword maker of evil intent, while on the oposite side of the spectrum muramasa was of pure intent. Legend has it that when a master swordsmith creates a katana, he infuses his spiritual qualities into the blade, then who ever weilds it does the same over time. So if you were an evil swordman and owned a masamune you would be quite the tirant. It is said that masamune blades would sometimes cut their owners and lead them to death. There is one case of a samurai who wanted to test this theory, he took a blade from each crafter and took them to a streem. He placed both of the bladed in the water edge up, just breaking the surface. As the leafs flowed down the stream, each that came within a close vicinity of the masamune were drawn towards the edge and cut in two, while on the other hand each leaf that came close to the muramasa would stray away from the edge as if the sword wished to spare them. This account has no true credability other than spoken word, and written word. Although True Muramasa blades are considered the highest quality swords in all of japan. While Masamune, even considering the evil within, are second only to the Muramasa in desired ownership.

No they don't. I've used a 13th c one and a 17th c one, and neither of them looked like that.

I've never actually heard no-dachi, only 'dachi' or 'tachi'. I'll ask my sensei.

I wouldn't buy that myself.

Love the story about the swordmakers though. I'd never heard that before... I'll have to look that out too.

Hell ya, only problem is actually getting an original of each. Seeing as how Muramasa's are totally hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, I have never seen one for sale. I think you have to be in the Yakuza, or have some serious connections in Japan to get your eyes, let alone hands, near that kind of merchandise.

I believe you have your swordmakers the wrong way around: Muramasa's sword cut each leaf that approached it, while leaves simply passed by Masamune's. This showed that despite Muramasa's sword being able to slice leaves by the mere pressure of the current, Masamune was deemed the better craftsman. His sword would not cut simply because it could, but showed spiritual discernment - knowing when violent action was appropriate.

The idea of Muramasa's swords being "evil" came about during the Edo period, mainly by propaganda. These blades were favoured by enemies of the Tokugawa clan, due to the superstitious fear with which the Tokugawas regarded Muramasa blades. Matsudaira Kiyoyasu, Tokugawa Ieyasu's grandfather was believed to have been slain by a Muramasa sword wielded by one Abe Masatoyo. Ieyasu's father, Matsudaira Hirotada, was fabled to have been injured by another Muramasa weapon, while Ieyasu himself was apparently cut by one of these blades as a child by accident. Furthermore when Ieyasu's son was ordered to comitt seppuku by Oda Nobunaga, the kaishaku was administered with a muramasa blade.
