Ok, so I have a new computer system. It's running XP (hey, I don't have time right now to screw around learning Linux) and naturally doesn't have Word installed. I can't be bothered buying a copy, so I'm looking for decent free Word Processing software.

I know some of you out there can make suggestions, so go to it.

Microsoft works is not on the system? You should probably already have wordpad installed with XP.

It is not as robust as Word but it is a good word processor.

Mind you, if you can get your hands on a copy of Adobe Framemaker, Now you're talking! Best long document system ever devised.

Try Open Office. I use it at home and it works great.

Thanks folks.

Kung Lek: yeah, WordPad is on here, but I'm not all that fond of it. Hence, looking for something else.

3 for openoffice.

Or, if you're writing serious docs like my thesis, you could learn LaTeX :p. Not hard and you get great results. It's not a word processor though - it's a typesetting language.
