Another newcomer to this forum,

I trained at a mcdojo and since discovering what that place was all about, I've trained here and there and not at all.

I started training in martial arts initially because I wanted the whole package i.e. external and internal or mind-body unity. Well, mcdojo promised it but didn't deliver and I didn't really find a fit as I searched.

Tai chi Shawn mentioned to me that he would be training tai chi and the idea then clicked. I think it will be the right fit for me.

Can anyone recommend a quality studio/practitioner in Edmonton?

Check out Joseph Chen. He has a website at http://www.chenzhonghua.com
His Chen taiji skill is supposed to be quite good.

Other than that, I think you'd be hard pressed to find any schools teaching authentic martial taiji, publicly at least...

Andy Wong has been teaching Traditional Yang style in Edmonton for many years. His teacher is Mak Ying Po, who just turned 92 years old and was a senior student of Tung Ying Chieh.

Andy's webpage is http://members.shaw.ca/radius221/

Hi "Pilgrim". Welcome to a far better forum, with a far better class of people. It won't be long before you forget the past, and Temple Kung Fu.

Yang and Chen - looks like you have at least two good choices. Good luck.

Excellent. Thank you for the heads up. I'd found the chenhongzua site. Ironically, it is only a block from the tkf studio in south Edmonton.

Thank you, denali for pointing me in Wong's direction. I've sent him an email and am eager to get a response.

Shawn, yes, I've finally shaken that forum and also my bitterness to tkf. I'm surprised that I was that bitter...Thanks for mentioning tai chi as I really think it will be the right fit. I'm going to visit a studio this week.
