View Full Version : Are you going to buy Pavel's new $97 (on sale for $77) book?

I probably will (http://forum.dragondoor.com/training/message/313262/). Why? I don't know. Because the table of contents that he posted sounds interesting. But ****, $77? ****...

Looks like he is following Furey's pricing guide lines.

I might. Or I'll snag a bootleg later on.

Yeah, I liked this comment in the first reply:

This is after all the respected Dragondoor.com, not Matt "money comes first" Fury.com...

:D

Hey Ironfist

I had offered to buy this off you but I saw the Table of Contents:

For that amount of knowledge, he needs a few volumes to properly do the subjects justice.

Sounds like it'll be about using low reps, lots of sets, and short rest intervals. I can see rest-pause training making an appearence. Even looks like he'll be bringing in board presses. I've learned my lesson though. I'm not going to buy it.

You offered to buy what off of me? I'm confused.

You linked to the index, not the table of contents.

Honestly, I think most of those who've mentioned they're going to buy the book already posses all the knowledge they need to get big and strong (except for Andy, buy the book man, PLEASE). Now that I've purchased "Beyond Brawn", I figure I'll just alternate between cycles of 20-rep deadlifts and PTP for the next few years. I'm sick of spending money for lame regurgitated B.S. If I've got $77 to spare I'm going to buy more plates for my barbell.

Don't worry Jack. I am not going to buy it.

Hi Ironfist,

I edited my offer out. I am sorry, that is the index. Still, I think it would need a few volumes to do that knowledge justice.

It definitely is not for me.

Pavel is supposed to be coming out with a book on isometrics. I will definitely buy a copy of that. Hopefully it is priced a little lower than this offering.

I still don't know what you're talking about. I'm not selling it so I don't know why you'd offer to buy it from me.

Thread about the book (http://www.irongarmx.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=317&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=kettlebells&start=0) on Garm's forum.

I'd love to have a book like that to give me plenty of tips and strategies on gaining strength and stuff, but ****, like everyone says, WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH?! :(

My friends and I are going to buy it, then make copies for ourselves. SO it will come out 10 to 15 bucks for each of us, but I get to keep the original. I wouldnt pay 100 beans or 70 beans for any book. My college days are over.

Wow, $10 for the shipping.

This next paragraph is hypothetical:

I'd ask if someone wants to "split it" but it would be expensive as hell to copy it anyway cuz it's so many pages.

Oops, Foo just said that.

Just go to one of the music download sites, I know a few have most of Pavel's ebooks. That way you are downloading for free.

IronFist

I thought they were set up so you could only open a copy on one computer. So like if you downloaded it from someone else it wouldn't work on your computer... or if you paid for it and then your computer crashed you would have to buy a new copy or something.

DD just lowered the price.

These guys should be professors in marketting... really. They are wonderful.

Step 1) Offer a book for an outrageously high price even though it's a "special discount" on what the actual even higher price is.

Step 2) Sit back and let the buzz build. "What the hell can be in this book that makes it so valuable?" "Is there something I NEED to know in this book?" "It must be good if they are charging so much for it." "I wouldn't buy the book because it's so expensive."

Step 3) Release a statement LOWERING the price even further! You were tempted at $80/ea. Well now we are selling it for $50 because of "high demand"! We also couldn't stand our loyal customers' outcry about the price. If you liked PTP, this is the graduate course... You will love it.

Step 4) Sit back and watch the money come pouring in.

It's great. I love the psychology involved in the whole thing. Kudo's to them. Very smoothe.

^ Indeed.

I might buy it now. Funny how they said on 2/1 they were going to raise the price back up to $99 and then on 2/1 they lowered it to $50 instead. Look at all the positive replies.

I bet the whole "normally we don't discuss this publicly" comment was part of the marketing, too. When people feel like they're getting insider information they get all giddy.
