Dear Fellows:
I am not sure you all know about this so I post it here.
With great sorrow I let you know that GM Lai Gan Qing (one of the two disciples of Gu Ruzhang who were alive) has passed away last December 11 in Guangzhow, China.
He was 100 years old.
My students had the pleasure of meeting him in China in 1998, then again in 2000, he was old but very strong and lucid.
We all are going to miss this great Grandmanster.
Take Care
Horacio

It is always a sad day when these living links to the old traditions fade away. There are very, very few old masters from the early 1900's days left. They were the last of those that knew and trained with the last generation of masters from imperial times.
