Hello,

Seems like some people would like to discuss the differences in stances. One poster inquired about why one persons stance would be narrower than anothers.

Aside from the obvious differences in bodyu type and structure one may also look at the intent of the stance. Is it a system which stresses more mobility or more centeredness or a combination of both.

I would welcome anyone elses ideas on why we use a particular stance. I would ask that we keep it restricted to discussing the methods and try not to cast dispersion on any of the practicianers.

Peace,

Dave

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows the chinese term for the 'pressing stance' in the knife form (Ip Chun/Ip Ching).

Cheers

Hi Dave,

While I'm not certain as to the specifics of the Yip brother's terminology, Bik Ma (Pressing Horse) is a common one I've seen (though not limited to the knife set).
