The fighting stance in my lineage has both palms facing forward towards the opponent. The one that seems to be most common that I always see in books and stuff has the side of the hand facing the opponent. The footwork looks pretty much the same for both. So does it make any difference? What was the reason behind the different lineages using these different methods..?

Or is it such a small thing that it makes no difference and this post is just a waist of bandwidth....

seems fine with me, i doubt it makes much difference. about the only think i could think of is that if you could get punched in the fingers and have them renched back, but i wouldn't really know, i never tried the stance. is there any other hand movements that are different? it sounds pretty cool.
