Months ago Gary Romel and I outlined the idea of big get together over Memorial Day weekend. Oklahoma City is as centrally located as possible for martial artists in the US. Since its getting closer to the time for people to start making their Memorial Day plans we wanted to remind people of the event in more detail.

-This event will be open to practitioners of all styles. It will be each attendees choice to participate or not at whatever level they feel comfortable with. Sparring is freely available, but completely optional. All participants must agree beforehand on intensity level so there are no ambushes or surprise attacks and unexpected uses of force. Everyone who attends will be respected equally so that there can be no rank pulling.

-We want both a respectful and friendly training environment. This will ensure the best possible exchange of information, and avoid ego trips and grudge matches.

-People from all styles will share their information on an open, equal and mutually respectful basis, as opposed to a showcase for any one individual style or approach.

-Available time slots will be built into the schedule of events so people can teach their material to whomever is interested in learning. Time slots should be reserved ahead of time so a precise schedule can be drawn up and provided for all attendees. Please call or email as soon as possible with details of what you want to teach and how much time you would like to reserve since reservation times are limited. Additionally, there will plenty of time for a less structured and relaxed sharing of information as participants choose to do so.

Training location:

We have reserved space at the gym on the Air Base. It is in a well air conditioned, well lit, clean environment with PLENTY of room for training for as many people as would like to attend.

Training equipment:

If you plan on sparring at whatever level, please bring your own equipment. We have a limited amount of equipment to make available that will be first come, first serve, but it will not be enough for everyone.

Local accommodations
Local Hotel/Motel list will be provided upon request. As for meals and entertainment, OKC has one of the largest varieties of full service, casual and fast-foot restaurants in the nation. We will provide recommendations, and directions for group meals. The downtown (Bricktown) and Riverwalk area has plenty of entertainment for the weekend: live bands, good food, adult beverages, and a relaxed atmosphere.

-Other events:

We realize Memorial Day weekend is one of the most popular times of the year to schedule Martial Arts training events. As time draws near there may be more events scheduled for this particular weekend. However we feel we have to offer one of the best combinations of the nicest training facilities and the widest arrangement of low-cost meal, entertainment and overall accommodation choices. We are as centrally located as it can get for martial artists in the USA, so travel is equally low-cost and convenient for all members. But most importantly we believe the structure of our event will allow for the most open, diverse and friendly sharing of information to take place on an equal footing and allow friendships to develop. So come join us for the most fun, training and friendship youll have all year!

For those of you who had in mind hosting or attending another event during this time, to avoid multiple small events, we would like to invite you to consider reserving a time slot at our event where you can share and exchange your information with the widest variety of EF members and other martial artists from all styles and backgrounds.
