No, this isn't going to be a BTDT type of thread.

On Monday night I got in an actual "real" fight. Not proud of it but my hope is that by sharing the details that we can all learn something.

Basically, it went down like this. I was working at my families restaurant as a bartender on Valentine's day. It was busy hell, we were understaffed, total stressful night. This was after working my day job.

Anyways, fast forward to the end of the night. Everyone has left except for a single girl and a couple sitting around the bar. Most of the employees are gone except the manager and the valet.

The couple and the girl are pretty hammered. The couple had gone through 2 bottles of wine with dinner and the girl had about a bottle to herself. The couple came up to the bar after dinner and ordered several lemondrops. I only continued to serve them on the condition that they took a cab home.

For brevity let's fast forward a bit. I had called the couple a cab. The first cab never showed up. So we called again for another cab. We're all in the front waiting area of the restaurant. At this point the couple is wasted. The dude is stumbling around. The girl is getting really mouthy and *****y. All the while they've been harassing the single girl, trying to get her to do some kind of 3 way with them.

At some point the dude loses a ring off his finger. The girl goes ballistic and starts tearing apart the restaurant looking for this ring. She's doing it not in a very safe manner (ie could potentially knock furniture over.) I ask her to stop and for everyone to sit down and wait for the cab. They won't listen. I end up asking about 4 times for them to sit down and wait.

At some point I say, "you guys need to wait outside for your cab." The woman tells me to "**** off." At this point I've had enough. In so many words....some of them not so nice.....I tell the dude that he needs to get the **** out of the restaurant and wait outside. He doesn't budge, so I grab his arm and start to escort him out. His belligerent girlfriend comes in from outside and tries to block the door. So I proceed to try to push them both out the front door just enough so that I can lock it.

Sorry for the long set up....this is where things get really messed up.

As I'm pushing them out the door, one of them loses their footing and we're on a steep driveway. They start to fall and the dude grabs onto me and we all go down into the bushes by the door.
When we come up the girl is trying to attack me. I kind of shrug her off of me and everyone gets up.

It could of stopped there. I'm trying to tell everyone to calm down but this ***** won't shut up. As I'm talking to the manager the dude comes running up from my left side and blind sides me. I didn't even see him coming, just felt him connect with the side of my face. Fortunately, he can't hit and but he manages to hit hard enough that my tooth cuts the inside of my lip.

I figure out what happened and I start to duck and weave. At some point I pivot on my left foot and I break out a big right cross and hammered the guy in the face (I think the side of the head or cheek.) Then the valet runs up and pushes the guy into the brick side wall of the restaurant.

(BTW, that technique I used is something that I've been working a lot in sparring.)

At this point its kind of fuzzy beccause of the adrenaline. I know that we all ended up in the bushes again at some point. I came up out of the bushes and had the girlfriend in a sleeper hold. She was still trying to hit me. She grabbed one of my fingers and claimed that she would break it if I didn't let her go. She fell down and tried to grab onto me. As she was sliding on the ground her pants start coming off (trust me you didn't want to see that.)

Seeing that she was on the ground and the dude was incapacitated all the restaurant people got into the restaurant and locked the door. At some point someone called the cops and they showed up 2 minutes after we closed the door.

The cops were cool and these people are not permanently banned from every eating in our restaurant again.

Later we found a bottle of wine in the planter box in front of the restaurant. It looks like they had been trying to pilfer a bottle of wine without us knowing.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed that story.

If you have any insights or questions go ahead.

Ciao

P.S. Hope your Valentine's day was better than mine.
:( ;) :D

Next time, use this technique instead of a sleeper hold.
