You know, I thought that site was a joke until I saw what a hillbilly he was in the videos.

But I think I have a new sig:

I have a natural boxing ability and can teach any fighter serious punching power. I have a gift when it comes to boxing, I consider myself a powerpunching specialist, because I know my stuff when it comes to leverage and powerpunching.

I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble, I mean the guy has a ton of power and technique regardless, but it looked like he might have broken the watermelon with his elbow...he even looks at his elbow after he breaks it, as if to see if he got any watermelon on it...did it seem like this to anyone else...also when watching those videos, I noticed I see the video untill the end, but then if I pause it and move around I can actually go past what I was able to watch before, but then I can only see the still frames...I've noticed this with some of the pay sites I use as well...wierd...

I am not questioning his ability to deliver a powerful punch, however, it is one thing to throw a punch with everything behind it but it is another thing to be able to land that punch, or to recover if you miss.

BTW I had a look at the punch in slo-mo and he does actually contact with his fist.

Dag...sorry I doubted him...I knew he was the real deal anyway cause he almost took his son's arm off...but his son has no clue how to pad an uppercut...he calls uppercut and then just holds the pad really high...

EDIT: I just noticed he has two refridgerators...is there anything this man can't do?

ok akhilleus, you're kidding about the power right?

As for using his elbow, I thought that at first as well but if you look, his form and technique are so sloppy, he hits the post the watermelon is on with his elbow and his leg. My guess is he probably scraped his elbow on the top of the post. If he had REAL POWER he would have torn his whole arm off.

ok akhilleus, you're kidding about the power right?

Dude his webpage says he weighs 270...I guess his technique isn't the greatest in the world, but he does seem to be good at measuring things off with his jab...he seems like he would get in fights a lot...so he probably is a very tough SOG...

EDIT: Does anyone else feel a little bad for this guy? Like I said I think he's tough, and I really hope he is...coz I felt kind of bad reading about his back problems...I felt even worse when he seemed to think Holyfield or De la Hoya might actually call him for lessons...but hey you gotta aim high and who knows? No one would have believed Sam Walden if he said I am going to open the largest retail place around (WalMart) 20 years ago...
Anyway, if anyone else feels bad about this...I was thinking at the next KFO gathering we could bring him down and even have him teach us some stuff...between all of us that would cost next to nothing...

My sentiments exactly meat.

The guy can probably punch pretty hard...I mean it's simple physics....mass times acceleration sq'd. Got the mass and speed and if you can ground it at the point of impact...the you've got functional power. Although if he's going to claim to know about stance and form, he should probably be able to punch without almost falling over....

Huh?
He nearly fell over after throwing the right, plus his rear leg comes off the ground like a Whale pretending to be Nuryev?

Is anyone really taking this seriously?

What a shame he can't compete in the ring because of his spinal surgery.

Bollsocks!

For all of you bashing his fighting style..."His foot came off the ground" "He's leaving himself open for counterpunches" "He's a schmuck!" I can only say:

How dare you sirs! Are you going to sit there and tell me that you've never been trying to hit someone or something so hard that you forgot about your form? That your back foot has never come off the ground when you threw a punch? Ever thought you were going to hit something and then missed? And yet you maintained a perfect kung bu stance?
Even that bald dude in the James Mcniel ad had trouble with a watermelon...all he could do is jab his fingers into it (and from the look on his face, he was not very happy about this)...when Sifu Carr Sr. hit that watermelon, it vaporized. It was as if it never had existed.

Ummm....maybe you should take some classes from him and tell us how it went?

I've honestly never lost form when punching....there's a right way and a wrong way, and although punching power is still achieved it seems from his video, it doesn't mean he has good form. My only beef was with his statement of knowing stance or form or whatever he said....but then couldn't keep it upon execution. All that punching power makes no difference when he falls or is taken to the ground....that's why keeping one's composure during striking or kicking is so important. You never let the technique lead the body. Ever.

obviously his form sucks. since he can barely hit an inanimate object the size of ... a watermelon ... i'd seriously question his ability to actually hit something that can move. with such horrible form, he'd probably miss anyone with even the most basic dodging skill, and he'd be so off-balance that he'd fall over if breathed on.

it's just that i don't post a website talking about how I am the equivalent of sliced bread when it domes to proper punching form...

touche Mr. Cjurakpt, but doesn't anyone else feel the least bit bad that this guy actually thinks De La Hoya might call him?

Dude, I already said I wanted to set something up and learn from him...but since we could all benefit from his knowledge why don't we see if we can make it like a group thing and then it would be very cheap for all of us...if we ever have another KFO gathering I definitely say we call Coach Carr...he's in Virginia which isn't too far from me...

If we had such things as Watermelons over here, I reckon I could demonstrate the same thing with less visible effort, and less visible gut! :p

I guess you and I feel completely different. I see a guy who has no concept of how to really throw a punch, he's got a thick fist and a thick arm, thats about it for power. I only feel bad because this guy seriously thinks he has some talent.

joedoe

My point is that he can generate power by throwing his whole body weight behind the punch - fine. But the first time you try that against a decent fighter you will pay for it.

I know no one really cares, probably...but while the forum was down I used that opportunity to do some research on Coach Carr Sr...I find another thread he was subscribed too...he seems like a good guy, but he is sensitive to people criticizing his punching style, if they do so in an insensitive manner, and some people were making fun of him to which he responded as most of us would, if ridiculed...he did say that he is trying to get his son into a fight this summer, so then we will know a little bit more about his abilities as a coach...

At the end of the day; if you are going to post Mpegs of yourself, in the public domain, you are going to get comments, and those comments are going to vary depending on the perspective of whomever they come from.

From my perspective, the guy sucks!

yeah, I think his son is just going to get knocked out. He needs a real coach. the problem with guys like this, and just about anyone here can tell you he needs a lot of work, is that they don't really understand that. They BELIEVE they really have what it takes.
