In sparring or "actual" fights, what are your most common or most effective moves?

My favorites:

A. the leg sweep in Shaolin or 埽膛腿.

B. Protecting heart punches in Tai Ji or 护心锥.

C. Fanning palms in Tong Bei or 搧掌.

---

What is your most effective move?

Why and how?

Thats a tough one to answer, as the situation calls for the move. In a "real" fight though it would have to be the ol' crouching tiger hidden dragon. :p a good sidekick, or maybe some butterfly palms.

Agreed.

A. The leg sweep is common in a lot of northern boxing styles. Usually you would sweep 3 times with both of your legs in turn in a row or at least 2 times.

And we have to do a hurricane kick to avoid the sweep or jump both of your legs in turn.

B. Protecting heart punches or Hu Xin Zhui in Tai Ji. We protect our chest and abdomen and use the back fist or forearm to hit the opponent's heart.

C. Fanning palms are very diversified in defense and attack.

Yes, indeed there are many more.

Very difficult to pick and choose.

The "1-2." Every style.

The triangle step front kick and the skip forward front kick, from Wing Chun.

Shoulder strike in the clinch, rabbit punches or wrap leg around back of opponent's knee for take down. If he pulls you down fall on top of him.

Low lead punch into arcing punch with same hand to the head from either side while stepping past the oppoent (wing chun) or low lead punch while dropping into a side horse followed by rising straight punch with rear hand while shifting to a bow-and-arrow stance (something I made up while practicing Northern Mantis basics, and like to use in sparring.)

Low Muy Thai round kick.
