HOLY CRAP! Haha, I just bought 2 copies of the original Godzilla DVD last week too. And I mean original 1954. Not the *******ized American version starring Perry Mason. The first one was an order from Japan, so it has no English subtitles or anything, all Japanese. Cause, I'm a nerd like that. The other was the American/Japanese one, this one has subtitles, plus has both the 1954 and the 1956 on it, so I can watch it how it should be (with subtitles and Japanese dialouge) or how whiteys (like myself) saw it for 50 years in the US, with Perry Mason fighting Godzilla.

well let me say this about that:

a) he ain't got nothing on Trogdor

and

b) rrrRRRRRAAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHRRRRR

I think I've made my point.

no way! :mad:

Trogdor has burninated peasants and thier thatched roof cottages, but Godzilla's got a proven record of something like 20-2-0 against fully resisting opponents.

Let's not forge that while Trogdor burninates peasants and small villages, Godzilla, on multiple occasions has trashed several major cities in Japan and elsewhere.

True, but Trogdor's technique was designed for a period in time when such classical displays of power were necessary.

Godzilla (Gojira) uses much more modern techniques to adapt to his highly advanced opponents.

Trogdor = Classical Gong Fu

Godzilla = Modern Kuoshu/SanShou/SanDa

Godzilla's circular arm movements here (http://www.curious3d.com/gojira11.mov) are clearly an homage to longfist technique and demonstrate that the big guy has a little tradition under his belt.

of course you can't tell me that his "iron broom" tail sweeps aren't a modern improvement on on old trick!

A few clarifications to points already made:

Wolfen's comment is on the right track, but he neglects a few important details. Gojira is pictured modifying a three section staff (with traincar segments) into a train-nunchaka, an act which reflects the historical adaptation of the chinese three section staff into the japanese two-segmented weapon.

Ming Yue is correct that BOC rocks, unfortunately MIDI sucks. mp3 with a minimum 192 kbps is a better bet, WAV better still.

Finally, Saeksan compares Trogdor to cma and Gojira to modern combat sport. I feel this is in error. 1954 era Gojira is more comprable to ancient battlefield arts, where barehanded combat is a last resort, hence the use of body armor, (scales) archery (flame breath) and, as previously mentioned formidable opponents in the form of other kaiju monsters and massed military forces. Trogdor doesn't have to face any opponent nearly so formidable, as has been pointed out, and as such his attributes have become very strange and lopsided, eg: a hypertropied right arm, no left arm at all, and vestigial legs. Trogdor is clearly a sad example of a 'creative kata' specialist who, no matter how spectacular his acrobatics and routines is going to be completely at the mercy of a fighting oriented badass like Gojira, Mosura or Radon.

Let's not forget that Godzilla also knows how to dance the dance of love (http://www.badmovies.org/multimedia/moviesi/monsterzero1.mpg) after he lays the smack down on some bad monsters.

And when he needs to get somewhere fast, he also knows how to fly like a...funny...giant monster. (http://www.badmovies.org/multimedia/moviesi/gvssmog1.mpg)
