Hi,

Hwarangdo is not a CMA (it's korean) but because here post people who in my opinion know a thing or two about MA in general and also may live near the headquarter or its dojangs of this school of MA I decided to head my question here.

So do you guys know about Hwarangdo ? Did you met or seen its masters e.g. Joosang Lee, Joobang Lee, Henry Taejoon or other Hwarangdo practitioners? They claim to be followers of ancient Korean knights - Hwarangs. Their art seems to be quite good -check their sites www.hwarangdo.com and www.hwarangdo.net . So what are your opinions on hwarangdo ?

Here is very interesting interview with hwarangdo'd top master : http://www.hwarangdo.com/Magazines/blackbelt9-00.htm - a great read

I've been impressed by several ex-Hwarangdo people like Bob Duggan, Randy Warner and Michael deAlba. I've been unimpressed by the cult like behavior found in HRD. It looks like a nice art muddied by politics, greed and personalities.

Here's Bob Duggan's very informative site. (http://www.hwarang.org)

Two nice articles.

If you can read past the anger and random zings, there's some pretty good information in This Thread (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21227)

I have limited personal experience with HRD. I attended one of their schools for only a few months (back in 1990 or so) before I found my san soo school.

I checked out a school here in minneapolis about a year ago. It had some classic Mcdojo issues, but overall I was fairly impressed with how hard they worked.
