hey gene,

one thing that's been annoying me in the past few weeks is sometimes i cannot load a thread from the main forum page. i've noticed that it tends to happen when i get to the main forum index by the http://forum.kungfumagazine.com/forum/index.php/ link, but if i go back to the kung fu ezine page, and then click forum, since the forum index loads with the http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum link , i dont have any problems. it's hard to convey here, but one other difference is that through the first route, where it shows the last person that posted in each thread, it'll say 'go to last post,' but it'll load up a page such as what i tried to paste below. otherwise, when the page normally works each thread with show the last poster but next to it it will say 'today" with the time of last post. does that make sense?

by the way, i just noticed that if i only type: http://forum.kungfumagazine.com/forum (without the index.php) part it works fine, bringing you back to http://martial.best.vwh.net/forum/

I haven't experienced what you describe, but we do have problems when we have a lot of people on at the same time. That's one of the reasons we did the recent update - because we were bogging down with more users. That situation has improved, at least in my experience, but it'll never really go away, unless there's some major technology breakthrough. I'm sure at some point, we'll have to update again...

since the forum is php based, and comes as a customizable package, I would assume it is running on a unix or linux machine, with MySql as the database correct?
